Birch Meadows Lodge B&B — Hotel in Area A (Upper Flathead/Elk Valley)

This year the goal was to go somewhere & mostly relax.||Some years we would book a place that was basically somewhere to sleep & use as a base of operations while we made day trips or checked out local activities.||||So when we looked at what to book we saw this place-great reviews & it seemed to fit what we were looking for.||And it did.||||Once we got there & got our room--we felt so relaxed.||Comfortable rooms and places to enjoy the outdoors as well.||Beautiful views of the stars after dark--and quiet.||I could have just hung out outside & in the room for the time we were there.||||Sonja & Marcel were great hosts-friendly & helpful.||The breakfasts were excellent--which different options.||there's a barbecue if you want to cook up a lunch or supper. You can eat in the dining area or on the deck.||Lots of space to play if you want to as well--and the friendliest dogs were there as well.||The rooms in the chalets were good-comfortable & more than what we needed.||The bed was very comfortable, we slept great.||If you bring food the fridges are small--but that's normal when you stay somewhere like this or in a hotel--unless you have a kitchen or kitchenette.||I really hated to leave as it was...

We decided to cancel our spring trip to the U.S. and stay in Canada instead. We wanted beautiful scenery, a close proximity to Calgary, an awesome place for day trips (Frank slide, Kimberly), an opportunity to see wildlife at a property hosted by an amazing couple at a place with great reviews. ||As it turned out, Birch Meadows checked all the boxes!||We LOVED our stay. I was able to purchase great BC wine in town 13 minutes away so we can enjoy it on our chalet deck, spent our time on the covered chalet deck, slept great at night, saw an elk who was less impressed seeing us, used the BBQ and enjoyed the common-use deck, and enjoyed our awesome breakfast with Sonya before we set out for the day.||There is SO much to do in Fernie and as I have said before in 2005, we have paid way more for property stays that that offered so much less. You will not go wrong a) staying in Canada or visiting Canada and b) staying at this great property. We're going back, but won't wait 13 years to do so.||p.s. Sonya and Marcel...

Our group (2 couples with 1 child) stayed at Sonya and Marcel's place over the Xmas break. Hardly know where to begin in terms of recommending - absolutely everything was perfect. The location is both beautiful to the point of almost being surreal and only a short 5 min hop to the ski hill and 10 mins to Fernie town centre. The chalets are warm and simple / well appointed. Breakfasts are delicious and plentiful, and guests have access to a large, stocked kitchen to make their own dinners if they wish. We even BBQ'd while there. Hot tub is great for winding down after the ski day. All of this is complemented by the incredible warmth and helpfulness of the hosts. Will absolutely reach out to Sonya next time our adventures take us to Fernie. Thank you...
