All in all it wasn't what we quite expected, we paid $38 for a single tent space (which was expensive compared to the provincial and national parks we've been staying at as we roadtripped), but when we looked it up on the road it said there were showers, firewood and even laundry so we didn't mind too much.
And yes, the washrooms are wonderful, but to shower, you have to pay $1 per 5 minutes, and to do laundry, it's $3/wash and another $1 to dry. That may not seem like much, but when you've spent a week on the road and you've got another 5 days to go, you kind of want to not spend $43/night just to do one wash of cold only laundry and have a 5 min shower. (Which I should mention at some provincial campsites I've stayed at such as Mt. Robson, you get flushing toilets, a dishwashing area, and hot showers for $28/night.)
Another issue was the layout of the site itself, actually. When we pulled in around 12:00, we were told there were a few spots at the back left in a group tent area, given a map and sent on our way, so we did exactly that!
We didn't check for other spots as we weren't told about other spots, and the group spot in the back is beside one of the loudest streams I've ever heard in my life, despite that, we set up our tent. Only AFTER we had set it up, on a walk to the washroom (which is at the very front of the campground) did we realize there were actually quite a few more sites that were quieter and more shaded. Which was a shame as the area we were directed to was essentially an open field with a handful of picnic benches.
Also worth noting, yes it's wonderful that there's wifi, it is a huge bonus for us as we haven't had any in a week, but the group tent area is on the very outskirts of the reception, and also in a dead zone so you have to walk away from your site to actually get wifi (which as I'm typing this is showing 1 bar and that it will "connect when network quality improves ").
And for the firewood... there's some here for sure! Behind locks. I'm assuming something else to pay for, but I haven't got it in me to ask.
Final thoughts; the site itself is well maintained, facilities are clean, and the location is wonderful, but it is absolutely geared more towards seasonal rentals and RVs.
(Also, no outlets aside from in...
Read moreWe just returned from 5 wonderful days at this campground. WHAT A GEM!!! I will write a quick pros and cons list, but overall, this one was a trip that I will surely remember, and probably return to.
Pros: -Beautiful, warm lake access -Friendly atmosphere, lots of trees, wildlife, minimal bugs (though bring a wasp catcher) -BEAUTIFUL sites... one of the prettiest I have stayed in -There is the most amazing rushing creek that runs through the campground so even though it is right off the highway, we didn't really hear any noise because the creek dampens the sound -General store that is walking distance -Surrounding area is amazing -Little park area has lots of room for kids to roam -So much to do in the area, even during covid (hikes, lake, canoeing, etc). -Full hook ups with zero issues -Price was very reasonable for what you get
Cons: -Our site was very difficult to get into as we had to jackknife down a very steep hill (Luckily, some of the permanent residents were more than willing to assist us). I was grateful to have a giant diesel truck that day! I don't think all of the sites are quite as bad, but ours was. -Wifi is very very slow and I was unable to get service of any kind on the site (I am with Rogers). I'm not much of a phone person, so I survived. If you have to work while you camp though, this might not be a good fit. -Lake is on the other side of the highway, and you have to cross a VERY narrow bridge with no shoulder to get there.... which was pretty scary with kids in toe. But we did it many times and didn't...
Read moreSo my disclaimer - we didn’t actually stay here ... keep reading to find out why! Upon arriving my husband stopped at the front office and checked in. I was a tad worried as it seemed very cluttered/worn down. We had a reservation for three nights and paid in full upon check in. We then proceeded to our designated sight - it was literally an open space with equipment/junk everywhere- like a scrap yard! A far cry from a tranquil spot near the creek. Then we stopped by the front and she openly admitted that “isn’t the best spot”. We asked if they had any other spots and the only other one was right besides the children’s play area, extremely close to another camper with a barking dog on the site. Firm pass! While she did give us 2 out of the 3 nights back - it was a shame as we just paid only 5 minutes earlier and if didn’t show up at all- there wasn’t a charge. Went down the road to the Lakeview and it has been an amazing spot on the lake. Very quiet with a little store and cheaper than...
