Stayed here in an RV for 2 nights.
Beautiful site at the far end of the island from the ferry, but doesn't take more than 15-20 mins to get there.
We were made very welcome when we arrived, were personally shown to our pitch and advised of not only where all the facilities were, but also of potential walks and places to visit while we were there!
The shop is well stocked and fair value for what it is and what they've got available!
We walked down to the marina on our last evening and watched seals swimming and playing just off the pontoon - magic!
We heard seaplanes coming in and taking off on a couple of occasions - but it really wasn't intrusive and for the most part there was barely a sound on our pitch!
My only gripe (and it is always the case with most sites) is about the toilets and showers - one toilet cubicle and one shower (which is coin operated - grrr!) per gender to cover the whole campsite isn't enough. We both only had to wait for them once each, but I would imagine there could be a queue at the height of high season?
That piece said, we'd be back here in a heartbeat. We both fell in love with the Gabriola vibe and this site and it's staff really made our stay there...
Read moreReally love this place. I used the campground on my visit. I have usually stayed at the other campground on the island as I drove through Page's a few years ago and it did not look like much at the time. Decided to actually give it a try this time, and the large camping field that looked quite barren is actually nicer than I thought. It has several little hidden spots in the trees. The view from the marina is fantastic, my dog loved sitting on the dock watching the seals. The family that owns and runs it is very friendly as well. A 5 minute walk through the woods gets you to the marina and pub next door which is great. Page's has clean showers for $2, a great little laundry room and free wifi neat the office to boot! If you go, I'd recommend the very hidden little camping spot right on the water, it's private (although can get a little windy), you can sleep looking out at the cove and boats, and you even get sporadic wifi right from your campsite, the only one that can say that. A big bonus for me was that the bees there are nowhere as bad as the other campground on the island. Walk to Drumbeg park as well,...
Read moreExactly what we were looking for in a long weekend getaway. Tried to check in with the office upon arrival but quickly understood that this was Gabriola Island and not an ultra luxury resort. Our name and room number was on a white board, a special invitation card was on our door and the room was already unlocked and awaiting our arrival/entry. Keys were inside, room was massive, clean and with all our needed amenities. We settled right in! Parking was plenty with a nice sized field adjacent to the massively connected back porch that we shared with all of our fellow wedding guests. The Silva Bay Market was held on Sunday which was really cool to wake up to and literally walk across the field to. Will definitely come back and plan something a bit more extended but the only draw back, and not at all reflective of the property, is that the 5 hour commute between ferry reservation wait times, 2 seperate ferry trips and a ferry bill of about$300 can be discouraging to some. Still cheaper than a flight though. Thank you for the wonderful...
