We just got back from a week at Carmel Cove Resort. We were 8 people in total with 4 kids ranging from 10 to 14 years of age. The lodge slept and housed all of us comfortably. The resort is very well maintained and set directly on the beach with no road in between lodges and lake. Saying that, if you book one of the lodges in the very top row, it is a bit of a (very steep) hike up to it from pool, beach and lake. So if you're not good on your feet, I wouldn't advise to book a lodge in the top row. We very much enjoyed the lake view and privacy up there. But it might not be for everyone. ||The lodge was beautiful and modern, very clean and offered everything one could ask for. The only things we felt it lacked were enough dishes and patio seating for everybody, considering it sleeps 10.||Every lodge has a buoy allocated right in front of the resort. They are arranged in order of the lodges. So the further up you live, the further out on the lake your buoy will be. There are plenty of kayaks and other vessels on the beach free for all guests to use to play on and get out to the buoys. Boat launch is about 3 kms away in Blind Bay. ||All the kids loved the setup of the resort, the pool and the beach. As the weather was fantastic all week, we didn't use any of the indoor facilities like common room or gym, so I can't...
Read moreWe stayed a week in the second row of homes and found it easy enough to get to the pool and the lake. Even though the view wasn't as nice as the lakeside homes - we were fine with it. ||The home (#16) was well appointed and tastefully decorated however the hide a bed would only be suitable for someone you do not want to stay. If you are planning to use this I would invest in a topper or even bring a blow up mattress to cover the hide a bed.||||The patio in the front and back was a nice surprise and we used both. I also really appreciated the pool side clubhouse ( ice machine) and all of the beachside water toys SUPs and Canoes. Bring Videos/CDs for the TV as selection at the clubhouse wasn't great. Also most clock radios in #16 had iPod docks. ||||A larger grocery store/bakery items and liquor store was a 5 minute drive so no need to worry about forgotten items for the kitchen. We did a large shop in Salmon Arm about 30 mins away and probably saved a few bucks. ||||In the summer there are a lot of farmers markets/ fruit stands in this town and others close by.||||||||If you are a clean freak I would bring cleansers as they only provided soaps for Laundry, dishwasher and dishes. The broom was terrible so keeping up with the floor dirt was awful. Drip ground coffee was not replenished nor was shampoo/cond. So again...
Read moreBooked Lodge 13 for 5 nights for a staycation in August. Chalet was great, well appointed and nicely laid out. Given we are in the midst of a pandemic I expected that there would be a booking sheet at the pool for each family to access to ensure limited numbers of people on the pool deck and in the pool. Instead shocked to find it was just an "honour system", you are not supposed to enter the pool it you count more than 20 people in it or more than 30 on the pool deck, seriously? The pool is not very large and their "suggestions that you try to maintain a 6 ft distance from others".. Very disappointed with zero rules or booking system to limit people in pool and deck area. This also seems to be party place with large groups of people/families renting lodges and partying out on the decks late at night. If you want a quiet, covid safety centered spot I'd not recommend this place.. Super expensive and no pool Covid booking protocol in place, I'd pass.... We stayed last month at a much more modest property on the water on Vancouver Island that took pool bookings and pool deck numbers much more seriously... We're in the middle of a deadly...
