I just finished a 3 week stay at this Motel. I was participating in the wellness retreat next door and this is the accommodation they have for guests.
Firstly the grounds and the ocean only steps away are stunning. Highlight of the trip having such a beautiful setting to walk daily. The motel is simple and definitely dated but I wasn’t there for a posh stay and for the rates they charge I would say it’s reasonable. The rooms are basic but clean and I made it as cozy as I could for my 3 week visit. The staff as you get to know them are friendly especially Mark who goes above and beyond to help any situation you may come across. He’s a great guy and even mailed out some purchases I made back to Calgary for me! 5 stars to Mark!
For anyone staying here, don’t expect some swanky place. It’s an old beach motel and for the price you really can’t expect more. I will advise that the walls are paper thin so either bring ear plugs or ask them to not be situated next to another room if bookings allow. I had 2 sleepless nights early in my stay where I could hear every single word in the adjasent rooms till all hours of the morning. I informed the front desk and after that they were very kind in making sure I didn’t have anymore people next to me so I’m very grateful for that. Perhaps something the hotel could advise their guests is that due to poor insulation that loud voices or yelling cannot be tolerated… just an idea until they do a Reno where the walls are properly foam insulated.
For anyone attending the wellness retreat next door I would advise bringing some creature comforts with you. Example, iPads for movies, pillows for your bed, good shampoo and soap etc. I ended up ordering a bunch of stuff off of Amazon for my 3 week stay just to make the place feel a bit more like home and the motel was very accommodating with holding my boxes at the front desk. Much appreciated!
All in all I leaned into making this my home for 3 weeks and thanks to the staff (especially Mark) I really enjoyed my stay. I would say people need to be reasonable with their expectations on a budget friendly motel and try to see all the good things rather than the negative.
Thanks for having me and will see you again at the...
Read moreWe were very disappointed and unhappy with our stay at this hotel. We do not recommend it, primarily due to the poor management.
They advertise as pet-friendly, so our family of four paid the required fee for our 3 kg Pomchi. She's a well-behaved little dog who only barks briefly when disturbed (e.g., someone knocking at the door). The hotel requires guests with pets to stay on the first floor, which we accepted without issue.
On our first night, someone knocked on our door, and we were told there had been complaints about our dog barking. At that moment, she barked briefly in response to the knock—completely normal behavior for a dog, especially at that late hour.
The second day, we went out for a few hours for whale watching. Since it was a warm day, we couldn’t leave our dog in the car, so we left her safely in the room. We had paid the pet fee and expected this would be acceptable. However, management called us, suggesting we move to a different room because we left the dog "unattended" and she barked when people knocked. Really? We paid for the room and the pet fee, and now we're being told we can't leave the dog there?
They claimed the new room was an "upgrade"—but it smelled of mold, had only one queen bed for four people, and a sofa. That’s not an upgrade—it's an insult.
Other problems during our stay:
The key cards kept deactivating—apparently due to their outdated system.
No coffee available in the morning, and no one on staff knew how to make it. My daughter tried and burned her finger in the process.
No mugs provided if you wanted to make tea.
Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. The hotel is not truly pet-friendly, and the management's handling of issues was unprofessional. We would not stay here again.
Let me know if you'd like to make it more formal, humorous, or tailored...
Read moreMy fiancé and I stayed here about a week ago. On our first night, we were abruptly woken up by loud banging on our door, accompanied by shouting and yelling just after 1:00 am. It was terrifying—we genuinely thought there might be a fire or some kind of emergency. I jumped out of bed and opened the door, only to find a middle-aged woman frantically yelling and banging on the door next to ours. She was difficult to understand, but I eventually gathered that a car alarm was going off and she was knocking on random hotel room doors trying to find out whose car it was.
It was a very unsettling experience and, in our opinion, completely inappropriate behavior. Rather than disturbing other guests in the middle of the night, she should have contacted the hotel front desk. Unfortunately, we were unable to get back to sleep after that.
The next morning, we spoke with Emma at the front desk, who was sympathetic and offered us a complimentary night’s stay in the future due to the disturbance. She said she would send us an email confirmation and asked for our email again. However, despite multiple follow-ups, Emma has refused to send the promised confirmation by email. It feels like we were just told what we wanted to hear to appease us and get us out the door.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience—not only due to the disturbance, but also because of the lack of follow-through and poor customer service afterward. Very sad as we have come to this...
