I've never left a one star review on....almost anything. This was the most frustrating experience I have ever had skiing. I've been to 18 mountains and I have never seen such chaos. After driving for 30 minutes to find a parking spot, we had to wait 90 minutes in a lift ticket line, then chair lift kept stopping 3-4 times each ride. So we got to ski very little for the amount of time we spent dealing with thier extremely poor maintenence and management.
That said, the front line staff is very friendly, however you can tell they're overworked. The management here needs to take a serious look at operations because they will run this mountain into the ground if they continue to operate this way. I feel terrible for the staff, to be honest. Many of them were seen running frantically/stressed out trying to handle situations. It was a little distressing to see a customer.
Not to mention the road up was extremely sketchy. Despite it being a beautiful Bluebird day, the road was not plowed well and was icy. We even saw a truck about 15' down a revine. This was such an incredibly disappointing experience.
I hope someone can step in and save this resort because it's...
Read moreHad good time there. Is is not busy like the ski resorts in the Vancouver area, so you don't have to wait 20min or longer to get on the ski lift. You get delighted with nice views, best during sunny days. The mountains in the Okanagan are big but not steep like in the Vancouver or Whistler-Pemberton area. Lots of people go snowshoeing there. Very friendly and helpful staff. This year they allowed paragliding pilots fly from the mountain. It is amazing to see people flying off their skis. The road to the resort is long and has slipery sections, I would not drive fast there. Some of the best starry skies if you want to spend your night at the lodge. The firewood smoke in the air at night brought some childhood memories. The long 30+ km to the resort is paved only for few km then it is considered gravel road or Resource Road, where the drivers should use a two way radio for the traffic safety (check Industry Canada for frequencies in that area and for how to license and use a two-way radio). Share the info about this hidden gem, it helps the management maintain a good quality service. I noted that the chail lifts are...
Read moreVisited for my first time recently. Apex is my home mountain but I have visited most of the hills in the Okanagan. I like to ride solo - fast and hard. Baldy was a dream resort for me. I noticed their grooming was substantially better than other resorts in the area, and their elevation of village and top of chairlifts is also similar to Apex. Runs steep enough to be able to keep speed in deep powder conditions, with plenty of spots to catch air with a well-timed ollie. Definitely worth checking out, loved the vibe up here, and for a smaller mountain they actually have a very well made terrain park. The jumps were expertly groomed and properly shaped with appropriate transitions - surprisingly, many mountains fail to accomplish this. I will be back next near and will actually have to consider whether or not i want to get a season pass at Apex or Baldy, even though I live much closer to Apex. It was that good. Worth noting the last 20km of road is unpaved. In late season it was in rough shape, would not take my car up there again. Better suited for a...
