I LOVE this hotel. It's family run and nestled in a valley conveniently next to the trans Canada highway. It's only about ten minutes from Revelstoke and thirty to Sicamous. It's also right in the centre of all the best activities including the mountain coaster, the hanging bridge and hot springs, the enchanted forest, the beach towns on the lakes, restaurants, the national park and hikes. What a hidden gem!!
The hotel is family owned and those unique touches show. There's so much history in the hotel and area and the building showcases it. They even have signs up in the hallways and common areas with interesting facts about the hotel. Staff was super friendly and check in was a breeze. Walking and exploring the hotel was extremely fun and at times it seems like you could really feel the history of the place. All those summer families and visitors over the last 60+ years, the Bell family and their adventures, the indoor garden and their grandmother who cared for it.
There's a MASSIVE museum and ghost town next to the hotel that's only $8 for guests. We spent three hours there and could have stayed longer. It is just jam packed with antiques, artifacts, old cars, and TONS of trains. Amazing place for families and kids. There's even a 1/4 train to ride on. I could have spent all day there.
The collection was so well displayed and impressive. I loved how you could just explore and wander at your own pace. It really felt like you were exploring an untouched ghost town. Lots of creepy parts too.
We stayed in two different rooms and loved them both. Incredible views from the balcony. Got to see so many stars at night. Loved the fresh mountain air. Rooms were clean and so quiet. No wifi in the rooms but I had good cell services to be able to stream or go online. There is free wifi in the lobby and indoor garden. Lots of kids and families staying at the hotel but we slept well and didn't hear a thing. The grounds are immaculate and have beautiful mannicured gardens.
Went swimming in the lake at the little beach and it was perfect. Clean, clear water that was a refreshing dip. Unfortunately didn't get to try the restaurant or breakfast but will definitely give it a go next stay.
The location is perfect if you're driving to Vancouver from Calgary. It was about 4.5 hours from Calgary and 5.5 from Vancouver. A great halfway point to spend a day or two and rest or explore the area.
This place felt like a nostalgic and wonderful time capsule. When you come to know it, it calls to you, like long ago childhood summers and sunny road trips with your family. It's the kind of place you miss when you leave because when you're there it feels special, a feeling that remains even when you head home. I'd had this feeling with so few places I travel, I'm glad I experienced it here.
We're going to make this a yearly summer tradition to...

The Ghost Town at Three Valley Gap is absolutely incredible — a truly unique and unforgettable experience. The restaurant was also great, and the service there was friendly and efficient. But the hotel stay was a complete nightmare and I strongly urge anyone considering it to stay elsewhere.
I booked a pet-friendly room through Expedia, having confirmed that dogs were allowed. I’m a seasoned traveler with dogs, and I take pet policies seriously. When we arrived, I checked in with my dog in the lobby, was given a room (with no mention of any issue), and we went about our evening respectfully — keeping the dogs contained, off restricted grounds, and never letting them roam.
After dinner and a wonderful walk through the Ghost Town, we returned to our room only to be confronted by a man asking if we had dogs. When I said yes, he radioed in, “We have an issue in room *,” as if we’d done something wrong. It was humiliating. I had my friend take the dogs while I went to the front desk to try to understand what was going on.
Instead of a polite conversation or even a simple explanation, I was met with hostility from a front desk staff member who treated me like I had deliberately broken the rules. She acted like I was trying to sneak in my dogs — two tiny 4-pound pups — despite me having booked (so I thought) a dog-friendly room.
Eventually, they moved us to another room. But the problems continued. The hotel has no air conditioning, no Wi-Fi, and a lot of the building smelled heavily of weed and cigarette smoke. The amenities were outdated, none of the ice machines worked, and even trying to get ice from the front desk turned into another issue when my friend accidentally used a propped-open door and was again spoken to rudely — we were told with sarcasm that “you girls seem to have a lot of problems.” No, the problem is there’s a complete lack of signage and communication about your policies.
This could have been a non-issue if it had simply been handled professionally. If they had said, “There was a mistake on Expedia; this room isn’t dog-friendly and we need to move you,” I would’ve understood completely. But instead, we were treated like rule-breakers and nuisances.
Even if none of this had happened, the hotel simply isn’t worth $300 a night. The rooms are outdated, the amenities are poor, and the atmosphere is anything but welcoming.
Bottom line: Absolutely visit the Ghost Town — it’s worth the trip. Enjoy a meal at the restaurant. But do yourself a favor and book a hotel in Revelstoke or Sicamous instead. This is not a place I’d ever stay again or recommend. It’s an incredible location and has so...
Read moreStayed two nights here with my family after driving by on so many other road trips. Read the reviews about no Air Conditioning, the property being dated, etc and decided it was still worth checking out for us - are we glad we did!
As mentioned, there is no AC but fans are provided and with the right timing, you can cool your room off with strategically opened windows. The screens didn't totally seal the windows up but we never had issues with bugs. Staff kept the hallway windows open so there was always a bit of a cool breeze if you were ok with slightly propping your main door open. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable and the price was reasonable for what we were provided and what I can assume are the massive upkeep costs for a building this size and age. Wifi is also only provided in certain common areas but we didn't really mind; you're out in the mountains, we were there to enjoy them.
The property is MASSIVE and some of it has been boarded up yes. But the more you explore and read the history about it, you sort of understand. A family run business (that even generates its own power by the way) survived the pandemic and are doing what they can in today's climate. The places people frequent are full of interesting things from antiques to historical pictures of the property when it had originally opened in the 60's. The places that are run down are not where people are being housed but we honestly found it very cool to come across a shut off room on our wander that looked like it used to be some sort of lounge. The indoor garden is straight out of the 70's and a total throwback that even my 8 year old loved.
The restaurant is what it is; we saw 4 staff in total and they were working all day every day. The menu is limited as they need to make the best of what they can based on said staff and location. If you want to mix it up, the drive in to Revelstoke is only about 15-20 minutes.
You will need an entire day (or more) to explore the ghost town next door; it's huge and well worth the cost of admission (which is discounted if you're staying at the hotel).
We're actually planning to come back again just for the experience and history. The vibes were so much better than a Coast Hotel we had stayed at the nights before, just know what you're getting in to...
