A very nice camp site to stay at. There is a small but convenient launch. If that’s part of this campsite beach the water is very clear and nice. The location of the beach provides a lot of protection from the winds in the lake. This lake is known for its “3 o’clock chop” where the waves get very choppie and make most water sports difficult. The water is get deep very quickly. So it’s not the most conducive to younger children. There are large logs that are chained together about 100 feet out. They provide a fun place to play on. You can climb on the logs and run down them. There is also a lot to see under the water for people who are inclined to snorkel. A lot of logs with a ton of Crayfish under them. Overall, I’m very happy with Gordon Bay especially the beach.

Ah, the venerable old provincial campsite on Cowichan Lake. We've been coming here with our family and friends for 30 years and it's just like an old friend. Access to the lake is wonderful with a nice swimming area. We brought out kids here as toddlers, practiced their swimming, taught them how to water ski, found rope swings off the cliffs across the lake, fished, wind surfed and paddled in canoes, kayaks and SUPs... Free hot showers, and flush toilets... Additionally these are slated for replacement soon. Keeps getting pricier every year!

Beautiful lake, good facilities (showers, washrooms, sinks). Foliage is moderately thin around campsites. A few mosquitoes and black flies(?), so you’d need your bug nets/repellants if you hate them (early June ‘22). A lot of hard ground on sites so you might need a hammer if pegging tents/rope. Roads might be mulch-muddy with water filled potholes when it rains. Convenience store nearby. One of the more beautiful and easiest campsites I’ve been to.

Extremely loud with no regulations! My boyfriend and I are in our early thirties and love to listen to music and have drinks by the camp fire but this was next level. People across the way had their generator going from 1pm to 11:00pm, all the campers in the area tried to reason with them to turn it off and they refused. When the rcmp came through they told us they have no jurisdiction and that the camp operators don’t work at night. There were also people racing around in their car blasting music all night revving the engine. So basically if you want to throw a rager with no consequences camp here! Looking for a relaxing weekend… go to any other Rec site along the lake at least you aren’t paying...

Such a great camp ground that was quiet and very well kept. Swimming from the beach was fantastic and it is very calm for paddle boarding. Less than a 15 min drive from the town of Lake Cowichan is very convenient too. Most of the staff were very friendly, but one of the staff was extremely rude when we left. The staff member berated us for not packing up fast enough even though it was just 15 min past check out time. We were gone from the site 30 min after check out time so this type of behavior from their staff is completely unnecessary especially that other sites were still packing up too. This interaction at the end of our weekend left a...
