We were fortunate to book one of the river front sites at Bromley and stayed for two nights, mid September. In the mornings we would get up early and drink our coffee and walk the river while the dogs ran. Absolutely gorgeous. The river was pretty low and slow at this point and too cold for swimming (for us anyways), but it was beautiful. It was a fairly steep embankment from our site down to the river (site 15). I would definitely not recommend this for anyone with mobility issues. If you go down to the far end of the campground it is much more accessible by the day use area. The sites were spacious. There were zero bugs. Water was not potable, and came from an old fashioned water pump tap (not a complaint, just information sharing). Toilets were outhouses. If you book pull through site 16 (where our relatives stayed) we highly recommend driving in the wrong way so you can get your trailer door to face the river. The park hosts were attentive and lovely. Not much light pollution at night, however, that's only half true because you're right alongside a highway. There isn't much of a shoulder between the highway and campground so the semi trucks and their lights passing by all through the night could be a real drawback for some. I can sleep through anything, my husband on the other hand, found it challenging to sleep well. I think this is a decent campground to stay at for a night on one's way to somewhere else, but isn't a campground I would think to spend a great deal of time at. There are rec sites up the road, across the river which I think I'll try in future. I've also heard Stemwinder down the way is similar to Bromley but nicer, so that's also...
Read moreMy first experience camping in Canada! Like all other reviewers have mentioned, the highway was kinda disturbing. Super, super loud at night. Sleeping only 10m from huge big rigs is not peaceful. Even with Macks ear plugs! For safety reasons, too, I wouldn’t recommend staying on the highway side of the campsite if you have really curious kids, but there is a small hill to climb to get up to it.
Apart from the noise, to be honest I felt a little scared at night that a car or truck would come flying off the road into our tent. Seriously, 10m away - at 80km/h+, so would you!
Nonetheless I had a nice time. The site was clean and the water was easy to access. Outhouses were clean too, although one night there was a bat in one of them so maybe just check before you go in so you don’t get startled.
The day use area is great, the water is cold but refreshing!
The park attendants are lovely too, and they sell firewood basically all day about once every couple of hours.
Finally, it’s within driving range of many fun activities like wine tasting, fruit picking, hiking and canoeing so you’ll be entertained!
In conclusion, I’d say it’s probably a good place to go for one night on your way somewhere, but not an ideal longer holiday spot if you’re looking for a quiet camping experience. Probably okay if you plan on staying up late.
With a barrier on the side of the road for safety this would probably be a 4 star review!
Thanks for a decent...
Read moreI am highly disappointed and disgusted with Bromley Rock Provincial Camp Ground. The description of the campsite was poor and misleading. The photos given where all of the beach day park, showing good coverage and decent camping spots. That wasn't the case. Upon arrival after booking and paying for a reservation they proceed to try and squeeze more money out of us. Fully admitting it was their mistake but we should pay for it anyways. After explainig I had booked for two cars and wouldn't be paying for something I already paid for. The park laduywas hostile and rude, targeting us any chance she could get. While fully admitting it was there mistake. Would not recommend this park to anyone looking for a nice place to stay. Wouldn't recommend any BC...
