Stayed for 2 nights at this ranch based on previous reviews, these however do not seem representative of our experience. ||The ranch is in a beautiful setting. Nicola was welcoming on arrival but somewhat disorganised. She was confused as to how long we were staying and how many in our party. ||As an experienced hospitality management professional, I found it incredibly frustrating staying here as it has huge potential but there are so many issues that need addressing. ||Health & safety|There were no smoke detectors in our rooms. They were broken in a drawer in the dresser. The radiator in the room was broken and a portable heater in its place which caused the electricity to trip when plugged in. The trip switch itself was physically broken. |We went horse riding. There was no saddle appropriate for my daughter, her legs couldn't reach the stirrups so Nicola made make shift stirrups out of the belt. This is far from ideal. Also the children's ponies had no bridles, only head collars making it extremely difficult for the children to control their own ponies. They ride independently at home. |There were sharp throwing knives in the barn, one of which my son picked up. Very dangerous to leave these lying around. ||We made use of the canoes one day but we could only use one as the other was covered with thousands of ants. My husband noticed the date of manufacture of the life jackets. They were around 20 years old, well passed their use by dates. ||The directions issued to us were not explicit enough to state NOT to access a certain road to access the ranch. It was a dangerous dirt track and almost damaged our hire car. Only for the fact it was a large SUV, we would have needed a tractor to recover our vehicle.||Privacy|There were no curtains on our children's bedroom window. We had to hang a blanket to afford them some privacy. Our room had see through piece of cloth on our window.||Our rooms were separated from other guest accommodation with just a curtain! No door. We were not comfortable with this particularly travelling with young children. Our bedrooms were accessible to anyone staying at the lodge.||Hygiene |This was our biggest concern. We had a shared bathroom with our children. This was large but very dirty. There was black mould in the shower area. This can be detrimental to health as well as extremely unhygienic. Despite being told that all toiletries 'except for toothpaste' were provided, nothing was. We had no shower gel with us, I asked Nicola for some and was told we could buy some handmade soap she had. This is not acceptable, a very basic amenity. My husband drove 15 minutes to get some so we could shower (the ranch is very remote).||Animals|A point to note is that animals roam freely here which is fine as it is a ranch. We were not personally comfortable with animals being everywhere including food preparation areas.||Meals|Meals provided were basic, first night was quite nice, second was pizza which was inedible as it was so overcooked. We couldn't bite into it.||Hospitality|The two helpers Margot & Alex seemed lovely, friendly and gentle natured. Renée (Nicola's partner) was in no way friendly. Upon arrival at the ranch he walked by us, not even acknowledging us. |They provide a nice campfire in the evenings and the children enjoyed this as did we. Renee & Nicola were out on our second night and we enjoyed sitting at the campfire having smores with Margot, Alex and other guests. ||In conclusion, we did not expect 5 star luxury (despite the high price point) and we are well accustomed to farms/equestrian yards etc. We have been on many camping trips, even safari in South Africa, however at over $1000 per night the pricing simply does not match the product offering or service levels. |This place could be amazing if was internally renovated, cleaned properly and health and safety issues addressed. We checked out 2 days early as we just felt the value wasn't conducive to the cost. The health & safety concerns, along with the almost complete lack of privacy were far below an acceptable standard. ||We hope this feedback will be taken in the spirit it is given and that improvements can be made for...
Read moreJuly 2024 - We had a spectacular holiday at the Beaver Guest Ranch. We stayed for 3 nights in their beautiful guest suite on the ground floor of the lodge. The king bed in our room was very comfortable, with fresh luxurious bedding. Our nephew was super happy in his own room that had bunk beds. We had a huge, lovely bathroom for our family. There is a shared kitchen available with bar fridges, and complete cooking facilities if needed. This was very handy as we brought our own snacks, lunch food, and beverages such as beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks. ||Nicola and her team took such great care and attention ensuring we had everything we needed, in a relaxed hosting style that really made us feel welcome. The entire main lodge is beautifully renovated, with a cozy open concept dining room. Our package included breakfast and dinner, each meal we had was exceptional! We were never hungry, and Nicola prepared us an authentic German meal on our last night. ||The main reason we chose this ranch for our holiday was for the trail riding experience. Nicola has an incredible herd of 8 horses that are all so sweet and amazing. We got to go on 2 fantastic trail rides, and we were also given some private lessons as we are beginner riders. This was above and beyond my expectations! Nicola cares deeply for the safety and well-being of both her guests and horses, and I was so happy to learn some proper riding skills to expand my knowledge and experience for next time. We also learned how to groom the horses, clean their hooves, and how to saddle them properly. ||We can’t wait to book our holiday for next year. I highly recommend Beaver Guest Ranch for anyone looking to explore a beautiful, peaceful area of BC. It is a tranquil destination where you can find adventure such as horseback riding or canoeing, or bask in the fresh air and quiet natural...
