The Rivermont is an independently owned motel 4 minutes out of the small village of Little Fort and worth considering for an overnight stay if passing though en route of longer if doing anything in the area. The new owners have had the place since 2017 and they are clearly invested in building up the motel. The grounds are well kept (it also has an RV park) and the rooms are partly old (coat racks, dressers) and partly new (tiling, carpet, linens, decorative items, painted walls). There is sense of care. The room we had was large and basic in many aspects with a comfortable bed--and it was very clean. ||Although we were on the main floor and at the front, noise was not a problem. We could hear the footsteps of people going upstairs on the outdoor stairs, but not other motel noise, and we did not hear any noise from the road (and this was a warm weekend in July).||Tiffany, one of the owners, was very warm and friendly. I understand that pre COVID the stay came with a home cooked breakfast, and the breakfast area was cosy.||The whole place was cosy. There are multiple hummingbird feeders and at one point I watched over 7 feeding all at once. There is also a playground for kids.||If timing permits, visit the cable ferry in Little Fort. It is free, and the trip is only 5 minutes. If you go, make sure to chat with Stu, the ferry man. we went on as foot passengers and came back on the...
Read moreThis is the second time we have stayed year and we chose to stay again because the first time we stayed a few years ago, our experience was so great. It’s obvious that there are new owners and maybe they are trying to get things set up (not sure when they took over so I don’t want to be too hard on them). First, call ahead to see if you will be getting the free breakfast. When we arrived and inquired, we were told that the owners were on vacation, so breakfast would not be served. I understand that it may be difficult to update all of the on-line platforms but a price reduction at check-in would have been nice, we paid $146cad.
They will charge you $25 fee if you don’t do your dishes in your room but they don’t provide a tea towel or drying rack, there was a very nasty used sponge however. I would prewash any dishes in your room prior to using them to ensure they are cleaned to your satisfaction. The motel is old and dated but we know that and we are ok with that especially because of our last time here. At that time the owner was very accommodating and the breakfast was soooo good. This time however, we can only say that the bed was clean and the pillows were comfortable, I cleaned multiple stain in the kitchen that were left from the previous guest. The door only had a door-handle push lock, no other deadbolt or chain. Over all we are disappointed that we paid more and...
Read moreIf you're looking for a quiet spot to rest for the night, keep on driving. Pretty loud right next to the highway. I was offered a tentsite for 30$. After asking for a way to charge my power station that runs my mini-fridge, and I even offered them to pay a little fee, the owners discussed something in chineese back and forth right in front of me and then offered me a 45$ RV site with a 5$ discount. Fine, whatever. I didn't wanted my food to turn bad. They wanted me to pay cash only peeking in my wallet. Told them I didn't have enough. However, the bathroom were looked all night. At 11 in the morning I had to go to the office and asked to unlock them. To my question why they are locked she responded the truck drivers could stop and use the washrooms. 🚻 As a paying customer I expect the washrooms to be available for the campers at all times! Not very well maintained campground. Weed is overgrowing fire pits and picknick tables. I didn't even had one...
