We drove for more than an hour to arrive at this resort only to rent a kayak or a canoe but the lady at the counter refused to rent us and said that its their policy that they only rent to guests staying at resort. However, their website does not have any information about this policy instead the website says that rentals are offered to those staying at any accommodation on Manitoulin Island. Therefore I called at the resort, after I left the resort, just to inform them to update their website as it is misleading but the lady on the phone couldnt help much and after 5 minutes another lady called and apologized for the confusion and agreed to the information on their website means we can rent kayak or canoe without being guests at the resort however, she also said that If I am Kayaking or Canoeing, at that time my family cannot be on the property which sounded very absurd, because where I am going to leave my 3 years old daughter and Wife while I am kayaking. All that day I was very disappointed because of this incident and I decided that I will never visit this resort if I ever went to the Island again nor will I recommend any friends. Poor...

I was disappointed with the park. The issues started with multiple phone calls to make my reservation. On arrival the site we were given was barely large enough to fit our 22 ft RV trailer, I had to partially block the roadway simply to get into place, while unhooking and connecting to leave. When the truck was disconnected, the only place to park was right on the edge of road, and that was with the hood/front bumper fitted between 2 trees. Everything was too tight, we could listen to the conversation of the people one site behind us and one site over, and did listen to them, until after 11 pm. Washrooms were nice, some of the dogs were friendly, others were not. There were no "views", no sense of privacy. The dump station location meant I was partially blocking the main entrance and exit to the park. Speed bumps were everywhere, not necessary considering the road conditions. The seasonal people did not engage in conversation, except for 1 guy who cautioned us his dog was very protective and to keep our distance. From other reviews I see free firewood, which was not offered? I won't return. You can't win them...

This is the perfect spot on the island for a family. The resort boasts a beautiful beach on the largest lake on an island in the world but that is just a spall piece of what this place has to offer. The resort also has a boat launch with a generous lot for parking your boat trailer. The sites are a good size, mostly with privacy. The place is well maintained and family owned and operated. Many sites are occupied by seasonal campers, most with friendly faces. The resort has a huge park for kids of many ages, a horseshoe area, cement pad with basketball nets and hockey nets, a volleyball and soccer field and bocce and other game equipment available on a lending basis. Both the park and the beach have resort owned toys for the kids to play with as they please. More variety at the convenience store would be nice although the prices on the selection available are very reasonable.

I would recommend this place to anyone staying on the island with kids. Definitely not a party place. Friendly and accommodating staff, clean and fun! Driving distance to anything you could want to experience...

I wouldn't say that I hate the place but this isn't the place for occasional campers or weekend stops unless you have a trailer. Seems the staff or family that owns the place doesn't care about tent campers. They don't check up on you. Their services needs a lot of improvement. We rented a campsite to be told on check in that it was flooded and all muddy, pools of water everywhere. They didn't even ask if we wanted to try another site or anything. We paid 17.50 for firewood and it was damp and barely lit a fire it became a smoker instead. Now I make tons of reviews on Google and they are generally excellent. So I have no reason to put down a company for no reason. But Manitoulin Resort, come on, step up your class. As we left for checkout, not even a thank you for staying or asking how the stay was. They couldn't careless about you unless your a seasonal camper. One couple that had stayed overnight across our site even had the same comment regarding the lack of staff going around and checking things. Showers/washrooms definitely needs an update.

Our site (39)was nice and big. Sloped and dirt "floored" so it did get muddy on the big rains and took a bit to drain. For our trailer it was great we had a tarp, there was tons of trees to tie to andnthe size realpy made it awesome. Nice and private with lots of maple trees. Good fire pit away from the power cords (30amp!) so you can have a tarp/awning and not be over the fire area. It was a fair distance from the beach (like 7min walk) so we used our wagon and went for the day. Grassy area was nice to sit on, great swimming area especially for kids. Water was rough and warm! The playground is well maintained, as are all the facilities. Bathrooms and showers were super clean and nice to use. We made use of the coin laundry, and it was a great thing to come to midway through a 10 day trip. The people are friendly, beautiful maintenance for all the seasonal sites. Field to let the dogs run in was a great bonus, and they can swim at the boat launch (on leash). Definitely would go back again!

We camped in our RV here first one night. Wished we stayed longer! Good sized sites, Grassy, trees, electric and water hook-up. The washrooms are brand new buildings. We were impressed at how clean they are! We appreciate that the management provides mops, brooms and dustpan so that respectful campers can help maintain them. Bravo! Plus a very tidy laundry room . There is a small boat launch and docks, and a good childrens playground plus basketball and horseshoe pitches. Although we arrived late in the day from the last ferry sailing, our site map was waiting on the office/store door and we were welcomed by friendly staff that came out to meet us.
