BEAUTIFUL LAKE!
My partner and I wanted to go canoe during our vacation in the area, but we didn't have our own equipment or launch site, so we called CARPE DIEM to ask if they offered this service by the hour, which they did.
It was during their busy season in July, and they appeared a bit swamped, but were still able to book us an afternoon that same week. They reserved a canoe for us by taking down our names (payment happens at the end of the canoing day).
Finding the place and parking was a breeze. We went to the reception office where we met a friendly young man who gave us a few instructions and equipment. They provide paddles and floatation jackets, but they aren't the newest models, so picky people may want to bring their own. The reception building also has bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms.
We walked down a steep & rocky terrain to the dock where the canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards are kept. The cliffside and shore are pretty epic, with cedars and pine trees bending over the clear, turquoise water.
We first took a refreshing dip in the water, then picked a canoe and headed out onto the lake. The lake was fairly busy with other guests, but people kept a respectful distance from each other.
Although most of the shorelines are off limits due to being privately owned land, we still had a wonderful time exploring the lake and shallow areas where underwater rock formations are seen from the surface. The clear, emerald water is breathtaking. We took a lot of awesome photos of the landscape.
After a few hours on the lake, we headed back, handed in our equipment, and paid a reasonable fee. The woman at the reception was also quite friendly.
We were very happy to have experienced this gem of a lake, and would probably return again should the opportunity present itself. This service and lake are a good, accessible choice for beginners and intermediate level folk that wish to experience a few hours on a gorgeous lake with the rental equipment and facilities already provided.
If you're seeking a quiet & isolated experience on a lake, you may want to look at other options, as this service tends to have many visitors and families on site.

Read moreGo for the lac skip the camping. It’s party central out here which would have been fine but the camping spots are so close together that you hear everything. The people next to us sound like they have 12 people over there and someone behind us makes a « hoo » sound (no, not at owl) every minute that is easily my most hated sound now. Have more peace and quiet at home in my backyard. We wrote to the camping by email and Facebook but no answer and no one coming to see what is obviously not allowed or at least shouldn’t be these people are literally yelling next to us I’m writing this still here our first night.
On the website, it mentions were next to a VTT trail and that the site is small. These are totally fine in fact only saw a 4x4 maybe 3 times since our arrival. Should definitely mention not only can you hear peoples entire conversations but you can...
