This is a review I was not looking forward to writing. We booked a six night stay and told we were given a discount for a multiple night stay. When we got there they put us in the Honeymoon Cottage (Divorce Cottage) and told us we got a discount because the jacuzzi was broken (which meant no bathtub). Only a shower with a broken shower head. No water pressure at all in the bathroom sink. Then we were told we had to take this room because we chose a queen size bed. (Other cottages having beds swapped) Website said fire pit (build your own) BBQ (charcoal, got the metal contraption, never got a grate to cook on) and salt water pool (Kidde wading pool with green stuff in it). We did make the most of it. I think the worst was the stench. It smelled really bad, like something was rotting. There was so much humidity in the room our sheets were literally wet. Glad we brought a blanket! The place was filthy. We did some cleaning, I think I ruined 2 pairs of socks in the sticky floors. One of the posted rules was not to steal the smoke alarm. Couldn't of done that as there wasn't one. I DO NOT recommended this place or WOULD NOT stay here again. Too bad for such a beautiful location. We felt deceived and taken advantage of.

Honest review…. The rooms are dated but clean. Flat pillows and no ac. No screen doors and only one of our windows opened. It is dog friendly for an additional cost of $25. Our room (see the pictures) total cost for one night was $178.50 (including the fee for the dog). It is in a nice location close to grocery, gas, pet store, Canadian Tire and Tim Hortons. There are waking / hiking trails with parking just down the road. Best to drive to them and then walk (I didn’t do the trails just saw them). The water view is awesome and does help to bring this to a 2 star. There is an above ground outdoor pool also available. The weather a little chilly so we did not use it. But from the looks of it, maybe not in operation?!? Maybe it also needs some love. They have chicken and roosters wandering around and the rooster is pretty vocal. Pictures on website are definitely not recent … nothing except the water looks like the pictures. They also have other cabins but not sure what they look like on the inside. This place is pretty big. This place could really be a hidden gem but does need some love and attention especially for the rooms and the grounds. We stayed one night August 1, 2022

This is a very laid-back, perfectly enjoyable cabin experience. The cabins have the basic amenities available, which is great for those who prefer independent vacationing. The shower can take a little bit of time to get hot, but it'll get there. Chickens roam freely, which is a lovely rustic touch. If you go down to the waters edge, the beach is 50/50 seashells and rocks. In the shallows you'll find small crabs, hermit crabs, starfish, and the occasional minnow. There is a short dock/platform if you wanted to do a little fishing (mostly mackeral) and a small pool with 4ft depth, which is very clean. Each cabin has a gorgeous view of the ocean/bay, and there are plenty of benches and tables around. With a set of binoculars you can watch the activity of the entire bay. Parking is a little annoying. There isn't much space for large cars but there are some designated spots, and you're allowed to park on the grass in front of your cabin. The grounds is under a few renovations so watch out for various staff & the owner on his scooter.

The list of shortcomings for the Baybreeze Motel and Cottages is overwhelming. Firstly, the owner was friendly enought but diffident, and couldn't seem to remember what he was doing (remembering the key, remembering the registration papers, and remembering the receipt). The buildings have a fresh coat of paint which makes the place look somewhat attractive, but a broken-down minvan is one of the first things to see. You can only find the owner by chance, there is never an answer at the office, which looks abandoned, and the phone number only works sometimes. My wife and I had a room in a strip of 7 units in a row right on St. Margaret's Bay, which I suppose might have justified the price if the place was more up to snuff. There was a small, overgrown deck at the back with a quiet view of the bay. I say quiet because we appeared to be, certainly for the first night at least, the only customers in the entire place. The route to the back unit was narrow and filled with junk, paint cans, lumber, and tires. The unit itself was attractive from the outside with pleasant trees and landscaping. Unfortunately in the grassy areas between the parking and the unit there were many holes and dips in the ground that are definite tripping hazards. The unit had a 1960s feel about it, which might have been charming if it had been at all clean. It did not look like the unit got a proper spring clean, with much insect debris in the corners of the unit and the bathroom. The bed was only serviceable, hard, and the sheets looked like they had been in service continuously since the 1980s pattern on them suggested. There was a functioning fridge which froze everything we stored in it. I had to fix the plug on the microwave to keep it working. I don't think the faded fire extinquisher outside would pass any inspection and indeed it had no inspection tag on it. We found an empty hair conditioner container in the shower enclosure. There was sediment in the water from the bathroom tap. The worst part for my wife was a smell of rot and mildew that she said got in the back of her throat. I had to unscrew a bright, automatically-controlled light bulb in the soffit directly outside the unit's front window in order to be able to get any darkness in the room even with the blinds and the curtains drawn. Remarkably the air conditioning unit appeared to function despite the large pile of rusted debris in a pile beneath it...

We had read the negative posts about Bay Breeze, but everywhere else in the Hfx. vicinity was either booked solid or required 3 night stay minimum. We had 2 little girls who were expecting an ocean site for an overnite and decided to at least see it. What a pleasant surprise ! #11 motel "Suite" was roomy, clean and altho' not 5-star, quite acceptable for the 4 of us. New bathtub and tub-surround ; fridge, stove, Micro and toaster.. all clean and except for 1 burner on stove, worked well. Plenty of dishes but next year when we return we will take couple more pots and pans. Coffee pot, but take own cone filters and coffee. Take hand soap, and dish soap, paper towels and if you like a fairly thick toilet tissue, take that as well. Plenty of towels and face cloths provided, extra pillows and 2 extra blankets, which were clean , as was the bedding. We always take our own pillows ; beds were fine. Floor was tiled and easy to keep swept up, and outside table and chairs were perfect on our little deck. Also café table and chairs in kitchen area. Lots of sea-birds, gorgeous bay, and 2 small but clear beaches with shells and sea glass. A firepit with free wood, but no paper to start a fire, so we used paper towels we had.You need your own charcoal if you plan to bar-b-q on one of several small above ground bar-r-q thingy's. Can't vouch for other rooms, but we were very satisfied with ours and plan to return next summer, perhaps to a cabin. Pool was perfect !Just ask for #11 and I don't think you'll be upset...

Nice view. Good rooms. Strangely big gap between door and floor in bathroom.

Bring your own pots and pans! Can't stess this enough! The ones in our cabin were still covered in food from last person and were just awful for cooking anything. Also there was left behind salt and stuff. Didn't trust it.

Only 4 tv channels which doesn't make sense since the motel is located in the middle of nowhere and the internet is total garbage. I mean, yes, on vacation you go out and explore but one day of rain and you're bored out of your skull. Can't even watch Netflix. So much for a late movie and popcorn in the cozy cabin after a day of sun.

Also there were ants pouring into the cabin through somewhere near the big window in the front. I am not exaggerating. We had to leave a Kleenex by the window sill to wipe them away when there were too many.

Place had chickens roaming and a rooster so that was pretty cool. Rooster crowed at least 50 times a day but never too early. It was a surprise to find chickens but my dog kept trying to eat their droppings so watch out for that if you bring a canine friend. Don't walk around without sandals either (to avoid chicken poop and beer bottle glass). Multiple fire places and picnic tables.

Overall, nice set-up. Male owner was somewhat grumpy. Never met the woman who helped me book the place but she was very helpful.

1500 for...
