We had an incredible stay at Alderwood Farm! The cottage was charming, spotless, and thoughtfully equipped—it truly felt like a home away from home. The farm store was a delightful surprise, stocked with the most delicious foods and treats at excellent prices. Everything we tried was fresh and bursting with flavor—the lasagna and pies were standout hits. Honestly, we don’t understand the comments about the food being pricey—it’s much more affordable than dining out and far superior in quality to many restaurants.
Jules was an exceptional host—warm, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. Meeting the farm’s adorable residents, like the emus, chickens, and the superstar Tony the donkey, was such a treat. They added a wonderful and memorable charm to our visit.
One of the best parts is how easy it is to get to Alderwood Farm from the Lower Mainland. The travel time is surprisingly short, and the ferry is quite inexpensive compared to other routes. Yet, once you’re there, it feels like you’ve escaped to a completely different world—so peaceful and serene. It’s the perfect balance of convenience and that “far...
Read moreFrom the moment you make your way up the winding driveway, you realize what a special place Alderwood Farm is. Your are greeted by Jackson & Prince, 2 of the most adorable Labs. Prince, the yellow lab is a little more reserved but Jackson, the black lab is so lovable I wanted to take him home. Our garden room was perfect - the bed extremely comfortable and the outdoor deck was perfectly shaded with butterfly bushes that swarmed with hummingbirds which entertained us constantly. The 5 acre site also is the home to 2 donkeys, 3 emus and a rooster and hen who come to visit. A deer which frequents the property was about 20 feet from our patio - very cool. Jules put out tea and treats for us in the evening and our breakfast consisted of bagels, english muffins, fruit, cheese, coffee and tea which was perfect for us. Jules also runs a butcher/deli shop on the site. A great get away, close to home. Would most...
Read moreThe farm is quaint, Jules is friendly and helpful, but we felt the accommodation needed a bit of TLC. We booked the Garden Suite, but were 'upgraded' to the suite above it in the same building (not the Cozy Cottage), that is not advertised on their web site. We found the king size mattress to be sagging, but if you lay in the middle, it was OK, as obviously people sleep on one side or the other. I'm only 180lbs and sank right in - it felt like sleeping in a recliner. Next is the lack of a bathroom door or curtain or any privacy. Sitting on the toilet, you have a clear view of everything in the room. Last, they need to trim the lilac tree that blocks the outside stairs leading to the suite. You have to bend over, and curve your body around the railing to get...
