It is rustic and quaint. We stayed in cabin 5 and it was much larger than expected. It is an old log cabin, so it is slanted and old but it was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the shower was hot. There was a gas stove and full fridge in the cabin. The kids had their own room, then there was a kitchen and booth table, then another room with a sitting area, TV , bad and washroom. This was a great stop on our way through the mountains. For the price, it was excellent. The hosts are down to earth and hard workers. They run a small cafe with delicious cinnamon buns and really good coffee (no full menu). So long as you know it's a rustic cabin, it's a much nicer experience than a hotel room. The only improvement would be some outside lighting as we arrived after dark and a curtain for the door to the bedroom.

Stopped here for one night in a cabin while driving part of the Alaska Highway and glad we did! The cabin was spacious and had many dishes and utensils to cook with, which included the use of a propane bbq (no microwave here though). The proprietors, Gail and Ben, were great and friendly. The food was an extra cost but well worth it ($20 for breakfast and $7 for a cinnamon bun - the hype is real!). I’d definitely stay again while in the area, though this is the only place to choose from between Fort Nelson and Toad River that isn’t a campsite!

Great overnight stop if your power management skills are up to it. Water was pure. Sewer worked well but lacked a collar. Electric was 15a GFCI and not in an in use box. T-storm made the place a mud bowl along with the road being torn up and construction in progress. The lodge was an experience. Best cinnamon roll and homemade soups fresh and hot. Wifi was available in the lodge until it closed at 5pm. You can get a signal on the porch or you might be dinner for the mosquitoes.

If I could rate lower than 1 star, I would. Ben is the most rude business person I have ever met. After many many days of driving from Squamish in lower BC and eating not much beside the beans and potatoes we had in the car, my sweet tooth became insatiable, I was stopping at every place that seemed to have any type of bakery in search of something sugary...unfortunately we were driving the ALCAN just a tad too early in the season and not a single place was open. We pulled into Tetsa River Services, and I see the door to the bakery open and someone working inside, I think maybe my luck has turned and somewhere is finally open!! I get some of the last of my "fun money" and walk to the door of the bakery with a huge smile on my face, ready to finally satiate my sweet tooth with what is said to be the "best cinnamon buns in the galaxy". I walk to the door and say "knock knock" since Ben is standing at the counter chopping garlic, he looks up and says "what do you want?" I say "well I heard there are some super good cinnamon buns here, are you open?" and he says "i BELIEVE the sign says CLOSED". Well I look over to the other door, for the gift shop, and it does say closed...but the sign for the bakery is right next to the open door I was talking to him through, making it appear like two different buildings. I say "well I thought that was for the gift shop and maybe the bakery is still open?" (it was about 6 at night) he says incredulously "REALLY?!" --scuffs and looks disgruntled-- and says stiffly as if I'm putting him out "I'll get one for you, go down there". By this point my boyfriend has come up and he asks simply asks how much the bun costs, he doesn't "snivel" about the price, doesn't say it's too expensive, just ASKS how much it is since we were low on money and we wanted to make sure we had enough. Ben replies VERY aggressively "you have the NERVE to show up when we're closed and then asks how much it costs?! It's five bucks" .... "I'll get it for you, go down there" he says this with such aggression that I start to feel badly for even stopping. My boyfriend and I move away and start discussing if we even want to spend money here at all, this man that is so unbelievably rude, why should we give him our last few dollars? Eventually we decide to leave before he brings the bun out, because honestly, if a business person wants people to spend money at their establishment then they should make people feel happy to do so, not threatened. We were so astonished by his rudeness and extreme aggression that we actually thought he might get in his truck and tear down the highway after us. Next time Ben, if you don't want the people to stop by and see if you're open, maybe put a sign on the road that says closed or say no from...

Just keep driving not worth stopping....

Stopped in for lunch and walked into the lodge no one greeted us other then a growling dog and we waited around for about 5-10 mins before asking if anyone was there. The lady came out asking rudely what we were looking for and we said that we wanted some food for lunch and she said she had no food other then cinnamon buns. (There was a sign on the front of the lodge saying soup and buns) then she said rudely again “Are you going north or south”? Pretty much telling us to go to the next town over to get food then said she had soup if we wanted that. We waited around the lodge for a bit while she prepped the soup and buns and then she came out asking if we wanted one or two buns and we said one each not knowing if she meant one between the two of us or two each then walked away and came back with the buns and asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside and said okay inside since you guys can’t make decisions on your own. The soup was good and the cinnamon buns were okay. Nothing special. She began to smoke INSIDE her lodge as we were eating our food and it just made the experience terrible. I would recommend going to the Double G service a bit more north of there or the Triple G in...

Mixed feelings about this place really so it makes it very difficult to rate however we arrived wanting 2 nights accommodation over a weekend so my husband could fish. I had called ahead to make a reservation although they don't accept them. Once we said we were here to fish the woman who served us said (in a very abrupt manner) "well you don't want to stay here then, river is swollen and muddy". I am very grateful for her not taking our money and not informing us of the condition of the river and the fishing but she was not at all friendly about it. A lady who was in the store was showing me a good book to buy when the lady asked if that was her book, when she said no, I was just showing this lady how good it was. She took it off her and said, that's $40 don't mess it up. You can look through this one (and handed one from behind the counter). I get it, i really do, it was expensive and she wanted it in mint condition but her manner was very rude. My husband and daughter ordered their 'world famous' cinnamon bun and we went on our way. Can't comment on facilities or restaurant. Gas was $1.59 with a sign over top stating...
