It's a wonderful campground to say the least. Our family experience in this campground in June 2021 was awesome. From the location of the site itself (as it is situated in the Fraser River Canyon) to the services (clean washrooms and well-maintained sites), everything was great. But it is the campground manager, Susan, who deserves a lot of credit. She makes this site homey and hospitable. She is a very approachable, passionate, welcoming, and generous person.
On top of having a wonderful natural experience of spending the night in an area surrounded by thick forests and wilderness, this campground also offers a cultural experience. As there is Tuckkwiowhum Village First Nations Heritage Site adjacent to the campground, we (including our 7-year old) had a wonderful time exploring and learning about the culture and the people who have been settling in these areas since time immemorial. The cultural display in the Heritage Site was a deep dive into the history and earlier living practices of the First Nations. If you are somebody who is interested in peoples, cultures and histories, the Heritage Site is a must-visit one.
If you stay here and have time to explore the area, there are a couple of historical attractions—Hell’s Gate and Alexandra Bridge—in a 10-minute drive. And do not forget to walk down to the Anderson Creek just at the end of the campsite to see trains moving through the trestle bridge above your head. It’s quite an experience! I highly RECOMMEND...
Read moreSo... before the name change this place was affordable. Now, you need to be a big shot paying inflated prices. I realize there aren't alot if campgrounds around so they pretty much can do what they like. Here's the catch though... the prices over doubled with the name change and not one thing has been added to the sites themselves and the bathroom is almost enough to make us not want to come. When the place is packed.. you don't want to come if you wish to use the bathroom. The showers won't drain in both the mens and the womens.. with each having one terrible drain and one so so drain. The smell that wafts from the men's bathroom is noticeable 2 sites away. I've been told a new bathroom is in the works.. but there was not a problem until they tiled the floor. So perhaps a new bathroom is not necessary... just uncover the vents that must have been covered??? No?? I love Boston Bar and Anderson Creek ... to me the Fraser River is home. I'm displeased because of the prices and the bathroom...I really wish they'd fill that missing section of pavement on the driveway as well...lol... and truthfully as I get older.. the hills and big rocks are hard on the knees. My favorite thing is the water... I wish they'd make the water easier to get at for semi lame people....re open the road so we can drive closer to it and use the tractor to keep an easier path. It's such a...
Read moreWell it was the most disappointing Aug long I had with my family and friends to say the least!...after so many years of goin to this campsite and enjoy what used to be peaceful and well kept by the previous caretaker, "Bernard". Bathroom drains clogged everyday, recycling and garbage over floating the garbage area and was right next to it, so bees and bugs weren't pleasant. But the real highlight was Sunday night at about 11:30pm or so..caretaker dogs attacked a nearby husky on leash and was seriously injured. Caretaker could barely stand or do anything, do to what it seems under the influence🍻. Reading other reviews here, I guess the aggression on the dogs comes from what it seems the poor animals are being abused. This isn't just dangerous for other vulnerable pets but also young kids babies and people in general. I hope management makes changes and real quick. Before anyone else gets hurt again. farewell to what it used to be a great every year Aug long...
