Very disappointed, and quite frankly never going to return or remotely suggest this campground to friends or extended network with pets (or for those that do not want to be 5 in one tent during a pandemic).
Our site was large, and we were 5 people. If you go online, you are permitted up to 10 people and there are no restrictions indicated as to the number of tents permitted. Various policies are listed, with the exception of tents.
The owners were far from accomodating and their response was something to the effect of: "this is is not worth it for us, you should leave." We paid an additional fee for the fifth person. Further to that, at no point on the advertisements on the website or anywhere on the generic confirmation was it indicated that only one tent was permitted on this large site- had we known, we certainly would not have stayed. Our family member drove from Toronto and was nearly asked to leave when she arrived.
We were told that one tent was the only option- I still fail to see the logic in that reasoning and even less so during a pandemic. Various smaller sites had one to two tents (some them being screen-type tents) on sites that were a third of the size of our own booked site 99. Not only that, we had attended the campsite in 2019 and three tents were on the same site. We mentioned this and it fell on deaf ears and a "new policy" that was not advertised was enforced for our group of 5 adults. It seemed like we were really not welcome.
Late last night, we received a disturbing, accusatory, and disparaging email, stating that we had not "cleaned up" after our dog. There was another couple just beside us with a dog offleash for most of our own stay (our dog was tethered to a long leash the entire time) and we did in fact dispose of any waste, as responsible dog owners but the owners seems to think it was appropriate to blame us even though several other dogs were not leashed and roaming in our area.
If you are looking to stay at a place where customer and guest service is taken seriously, and that you feel welcomed and your business appreciated, I would suggest staying elsewhere. We were told that during the covid-19 pandemic only one tent was permitted on the site and that 5 people were to sleep in the one tent.
Not a good fit if you want to relax and not come home to a nasty email and pay 10$ for...
Read moreThe first thing that I enjoyed about Woodland park was how it was tucked in the woods farther away from the mainroads/highway, giving it a remote and quiet feel. When we arrived at Woodland Park we were welcomed by Monica the owner, who was eager to help us get checked in, including a run down of the park rules and maps. She then helped us get set up with some fire wood and ice and lead us to our cabin where she gave us a quick tour. We felt Monica was an amazing host, later helping us get set up with a time and gear for kayaking, as well as delivering a new propane tank once the tank on the bbq at the cabin had run empty, all in a timely and friendly manner. We really appreciated Monica's welcoming and friendly personality, this enticed us to want to return.
We stayed specifically in the yellow tail cabin. This cabin is at the end of the road making it feel secluded and private. We loved the lakefront view and adored the rustic yet tidy vibe of the cabin. With being regular campers, we enjoyed the simple luxuries of having running water and a fridge for keeping food and drinks cold. The kitchen was stocked with cooking supplies/ essentials. There is a small bathroom as well as an outdoor shower, both of which were nice and convenient to have on site. The bedrooms were clean and cozy, with views of the lake from their windows. The bedrooms were both equipped with fans, which was a welcome touch as the rooms are upstairs and got quite warm at times.
We enjoyed lots of time spent on the outdoor deck eating meals, enjoying the sun, and sipping our morning coffee. Outside was also a fire pit with chairs, good sized bbq, and a wood heated hot tub. The outdoor lighting added a nice ambiance at night.
We visited the cabin in late May and enjoyed the serenity as there were not many other park regulars there at the time. The beach was nice and we really enjoyed the swimming area, which had a water trampoline and stairs for easy water access. We also were able to take the kayaks out and enjoy Bull Lake.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and look forward to returning...
Read moreWe had an incredible weekend staying here and we were lucky enough to book the dome experience. The kitchen had everything you needed to prepare a meal minus scissors at the time there is a mini fridge with the freezer attached to it.
The beds were very comfortable and we were lucky that there were sheets and pillows, but we did bring our own.
Some for staying here if you have booked, the dome is that they only have a French press so bring pre-grind coffee with you and bring a recycling bag as you are supposed to take home your recycling. I would also suggest bringing your own roasting sticks. They did have some, but they were a bit shorter.
There is dish soap and hand soap included, but make sure you bring your own shampoo and body wash. If you plan on using the outdoor shower and you have to bring your own towels. I would recommend bringing some candles if you would like to make the ambiance as magical as the dome provides and some boardgames to pass the evening
It is such a quiet and quaint community that it was not overcrowded when we went near the end of September. I love that. This area is dog friendly and had explored a bunch of other cottages to book but would rather go further or pay more for a community that allows us to bring our pets. Our host Monica was so sweet and showed us around and how everything worked and texted us every day to let us know if we needed anything and reminded us to use the kayaks or canoe to make the use of the lake.
I enjoyed my stay so much. I already booked three different spots for next summer, but coming back to the...
