Last summer my significant other and I, had accidentally discovered this hidden gem. The house is in a european-esque style, with a lot of antiquity and coziness to the place both inside and out, with the comfort in mind, as the beds are exceptionally comfortable, with spacious rooms, and clean bathrooms and all other space within the house. The photos don't do justice to the beauty that you experience once you are there. The area of the house and it's site, is quite pleasant, on the lower levels (I believe there were 3 rooms) you are able to walk out through the sliding balcony door of your room onto a privately seperated outside patio, that leads to the soft grass of the front yard, for the top floor (only one room), you have a grandeur view all to yourself, although you still may access the balcony where the living room and dining area rests, at any time, and catch a glimpse of hummingbirds in the morning. The frontyard has a nice grassy area, with a wooden jacuzzi of to the right side, that opens to a beautiful angle on the lower area for an iridescent perspective of the gorgeous view. Furthermore there is a path that leads you down an elegant twisting stone stairs, to the pool, with a diving board. These fantastic quarters do allow the accommodation for your furry friend, which is an absolute delight, as the owners of these BnB have an incredibly dense in greenery trail behind the house, as well as to the sides, and perhaps even more varieties for additional intrinsic routes in the charming forest, as we didn't have the chance to explore them for we had other plans, but if we knew before hand that there were trails, we would have definitely given a day or half day on exploring the pathways, but either way it is perfect for taking out your furry companion for a walk in the morning and early evening's, as it is a thick forest, thus it traps the sunlight and doesn't let much of the needed illumination inside, hence you may require a flashlight/headlight etc, for a walk that late, although I would be cautious since in the end, it is a wilderness, and predators may be lurking deep in the woods, but the owners said that nobody had sighted anything dangerous in years. Lastly I do want to talk about the owner's; Dave and Jill, they are absolutely the most humble and gracious hosts we've had the privilege to be with. They are very lovely, make an absolute splendid breakfasts, not to mention that they bottle their own wine and provide a bottle as a complimentary, very kind and keen to make your day so much better, with their keen attention and care for your wellbeing. At your stay, you will hear many intriguing stories from all the distinct locations they've been to, and not limited to the different times in their lifes they've spectated a now bygone era, for which we yearn to come back and hear more stories and enjoy the warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere at our stay in the spectacular Rae Leigh...
Read morePictures do not do justice.||Location-Less than 15min from the Victoria Airport-15 min from Butchart Gardens-Minutes from great food, drink, etc. Can't beat it if you don't mind being 20-30 minutes from Victoria proper.||QUIET-it's so quiet you can hear your own pulse. There is 1 room on the main floor and 3 on the bottom floor. The bottom floor rooms are all directly adjacent with their own patio area and if you have a super noisy neighbor, you can probably hear them, but most won't be spending much time in the room. All that said, during our stay, we rarely saw the other guests other than breakfast, so it likely is not a huge concern at all. Wouldn't keep me from returning at all.||Hosts - David and Jill are some of the finest British folk you'll find. Just lovely people. As others have mentioned, there is wine. They have it made for them and offer it freely to their guests. Just icing on the cake.||Amenities - there is a heated pool and a hot tub outside- just adds to the serene experience. There is also a sauna in the house if you feel like sweating it out.||My wife, adult son and I stayed for 2 nights. The first thing all of us said was that we want to come back and spend at least a week at some point. We also ran into one of the other guest couples at the airport on our departure and they said the same exact thing. Two or three days really is not enough - it will definitely leave you wanting more. I think that pretty much sums it up - leaves you...
Read moreJust returned from a wonderful, relaxing visit to Vancouver Island, staying for a week at the lovely Rae Leigh B&B. The hosts, David and Jill, were so friendly and accommodating. David's delicious homemade breakfasts each morning really hit the spot and gave us energy for the day's activities. The B&B was so charming, clean and located on wooded Mt. Newton....the perfect place to view the Brentwood Bay and Finlaysam Fjord across the way. There is so much to do on Saanich (Sydney is a great little town for shopping and wandering the waterfront)and the Brentwood Ferry in Saanichton is very convenient for making trips to the other side of the Bay. Lots of little charming towns (Cowichan Bay, Nanaimo, Chemainus, Duncan etc.) to see and explore across the water. Bustling Victoria is 20 minutes down the freeway, but 100 miles away in the mind once you take the country lane out toward the Rae Leigh B&B. Magnificent Butchart Gardens is only 3 miles down the road. Last word: we plan to return! We have found a paradise of beautiful scenery, mountains, water and lovely, friendly people. Vancouver Island and the Rae Leigh B&B is a...
