We were lucky that the owner picked up our call. We showed up in Clearwater without any reservations anywhere at 10:30pm in the middle of a downpour. I called a few hotels and they were full. My spouse who is luckier than me called this hotel. We were offered a cabin at a walk in price. The man at the front desk was very welcoming and there was no usual hustle with deposits and other usual hotel transaction. All very simple. The place is quiet and clean. Lots of hummingbirds and tons of berries behind the cabins, a 3 min walk to the river and away from the busy traffic. We kept extending our reservation last minute as it was hard to leave Clearwater, we enjoyed our vacation so much. Three days in a row we'd give last minute notice and they would accommodate us. But please, make your reservations in advance lol. Don't be disorganized like us. The amenities are not 5 stars... But everything else makes up for it. Cabins 1-5 seem to have separate bedrooms. Cabin 6 is more like a super cozy studio. We like it the best. We will definitely be back. Truly thankful to the owner and the staff for accommodating us on a rainy night with no other place to go lol We could have camped but the mosquitoes were life threatening lol p.s. our rooms had kitchenettes with all the necessary: dishes, utensils and even small pots. Great place for extended stay. Some negative reviews made me laugh. If a person is having a bad day or there is fog and rain outside and no mountain view, people would start fixating on all the negatives in the rooms. Learned that from managing group tours in Jasper a...
Read moreMarch 2023||I can understand things being older, that is not a reason for a bad review. My bad review is because things were not clean or upkept very well. At first glance things seemed alright but it didn't take long to realize it was not very clean. From the bedding having dirt and who knows what else in the sheets from presumably the last guests, to the floors and heat registers, sink and lights being thick with not only dust but actual dirt as well. The electrical outlet had no cover on it, very dangerous to be open like that. There was a big uneven crack along the floor that was a tripping hazard if you caught yourself on it. ||All the rooms have an exterior entrance and the snow would melt in the day and drip in to the area in front of the door and then freeze at night, there was no salt or sand put down and it was so icy and dangerous to walk over.||The parking in front of the rooms was angled so that we could hardly get parked without being so close to the person beside us that they had to come mention to us they could barely get out.||Our room had a bad smell of stale smoke.||This place would be good with some work and attention to detail, such as being cleaned thoroughly between guests. I felt it cost more than what it should have for what we got, from what I gather it is mostly pipeline workers staying there long...
Read moreWhat a mistake it was booking this dump for a stop over on our way to Jasper. We could not see a sign for Overlook so walked into what we thought was the reception, when I asked the grumpy old man if it was Overlook he said, yes, shut the door it's mosquito season, no welcome or anything!|The booking picture did not show the run-down reality of the place, it was horrendous. We booked 2 rooms, one for me and my husband and one for our teenage kids. The kids room was disgusting, there was hairs and other bits in the bed. There was dirty cutlery in the draws, the spoons had just come out of someone's mouth and the glasses were filthy. As for the room itself it absolutely stunk of tobacco. My son has asthma and couldn't sleep in the room so him and his sister ended up sleeping in the car. As for our room, I wouldn't take my socks off and wouldn't get in the bed, luckily we'd taken towels with us so we put them on the bed and slept as best we could on top of the towels in our clothes, I didn't dare to put my head on the pillow without my towel. As soon as 6am came we posted our keys to reception and left. This place should...
