Upon arrival the first thing you see is cars. Cars and trailers and construction equipment. Then the owners home which has no curb appeal. I knocked on the door and the lady owner quickly rushed us to our cottages and said she had to go as she was attending a pig roast. I advised her we still needed to get our boat which we had booked and she said she didn’t have one booked for us. I reminded her we had indeed booked one and she became flustered. So my husband went with her to get the boat information and we did get our boat. She then left without giving us any information about the site.||We rented two two bedroom cottages for family. The cottages were clean but not very well equipped. Some items that were missing: hooks for towels, lids for pots and pans, bottom for the dish rack, shelf in bathroom (there is no place to put toiletries), shelf in shower, plunger, not enough silverware or knives for chopping, comfortable seating (the love seat is well past it’s best before date), television cannot be heard over the air conditioner and if you come here thinking there will be working wifi you are mistaken. The wifi they have is completely useless. The fact they advertised wifi was a large part of my decision to rent here.|When I advised the owner that each cottage should have a plunger he said he won’t do that because people will steal them. Really? ||Saturday evening my husband took the boat out to familiarize himself with it and the motor quit. He had to be towed in. The male owner looked at it and adjusted something and it started. Sunday morning we went out fishing in the boat. When it was time to pull up anchor and head back the motor would not start again and we had to be towed. We advised the owner that the motor was not working. They gave us a different boat which worked fine. However Friday morning they said we had to give that boat back and take another boat. I requested a one day refund on the boat rental as we didn’t get to use a boat for most of Sunday and they agreed and processed a refund of one day. It would have been nice to have a boat that worked for the entire week and to not have to deal with this on our vacation. ||The beach is much smaller than the photos on the website but this is most likely due to higher water levels. Our cottages had no shade whatsoever so an umbrella for the picnic table would have been nice. We had one fire while here in the communal fire pit but the fire pit is not lit every night as I was expecting. ||I will not stay here again but that is my personal preference. ||I feel they should improve their wifi or take it off their website that they have it because it is useless and is basically false...
Read moreWe rented cottage #9 from Friday to Monday of the Thanksgiving weekend.||The area is absolutely beautiful, lots of fall colours. it is about 15 minutes off the 400 hwy.||The owners, Rick and Diane, live on the property, which is great if you need any help or have any questions while youre there. We thought they were good hosts, didnt feel any of the rudeness that we read about in previous reviews.||As a few visitors have mentioned, there are many huge boats stored on the property, as this is also an income for Rick. This didnt bother us, it didnt interfere with our trip.||The cottage has a small deck with a couple of chairs, and a propane BBQ, which was included in the price. It was clean and organized. The couch could use replacing, but we just threw a sheet over it.||Inside, there were 2 bedrooms with a double bed in each, a stand up shower in the 3 pc bathroom, a dining table with 4 chairs, a fridge, a small stove, microwave, coffee maker, utensils, dishes and pots and pans. There is also baseboard heat and a propane firestove.||The wifi didnt really work well, but we have data, and this was a time to unplug anyway.||There is a tv with satellite, not many channels, but again, it was about rest and relaxation not tv.||There are many boats docked, and there is a marina. ||We fished off the dock, mostly little sunfish, but nice to sit and take it all in. ||People in other cabins were great, some playing bocce, reading, hanging out.||We didnt hear any loud music or have any issues with those around us.||Dogs are allowed, as long as they are leashed when outside and picked up after.||Up the road, there is a general store and an little furthur up, a LCBO and beer store combined. You can get pizza and ice cream from the general store. There isnt anything else around, as far as stores.||We had a great time. Sure, there can be improvements made to some of the buildings, a newer couch, maybe better wifi....but there was nothing that would make us decide to not come back. We are planning on a return visit next summer.||Hope this...
Read moreI'm surprised to read the negative reviews below. In fact most of what has been posted that's negative, doesn't paint an accurate picture of this property or its owners.
My wife and I have been coming to Hall's Cottages for the past 5 years and couldn't be happier. We've kept our sailboat with them for this time and the docks were all recently replaced. We've also stayed in many of their cottages at various times over those 5 years. They are all well equipped and clean. They have cleaning staff that come to clean the cottages after a guest leaves. There is even satellite TV, but people are here to enjoy the beautiful outdoors I would hope.
The property is located in an ideal location. Close for boating to any of the beautiful islands on Georgian Bay and some great fishing spots. The property is a very short walk from the LCBO, restaurants and the town grocery store. There's even a small park across the road with swings, slides and the like for the children.
They have a small beach on the property that has nice sandy bottom and the owners keep it free of weeds. Great spot to take a swim on those hot summer days. They recently added some play equipment in the water for the kids to enjoy, which is fantastic.
Rick and Diane are great people and have always gone out of their way to make us feel welcome and are happy to help out with any issues. We couldn't ask for a better boating or cottaging experience. All of the photos that are posted here paint a perfect picture of what their property is like. Again, I would take the negative reviews you see here with a very large grain of salt. Can't wait for the boating season to start...
