We booked two nights at this campground and were immediately disappointed upon arrival. Our site was barely identifiable—marked only with a number on the power post—and consisted mostly of gravel with a small, sad patch of grass. There is no consistency between sites, and it felt more like a makeshift parking lot than a campsite.
Tragically, on the morning of our second day (June 30th), we experienced an unexpected and devastating death in the family. We packed up early, had our site completely cleaned and cleared well before the 11:00 a.m. checkout time. Despite leaving the site in perfect condition with plenty of time to rebook it, we were told by my brother-in-law that no refund would be issued for the unused night. This in itself was disappointing, but it got worse.
After my wife left an honest review reflecting our experience, she was contacted and told to call the office. During that call, she was told a credit could be offered—something completely useless to us, as we have no intention of returning to a park we found underwhelming and now emotionally tied to a painful memory.
But what was most appalling was the staff's comment that “people fake deaths all the time” to get refunds. To suggest that we were lying about a death in the family—specifically my wife’s grandmother—is not only deeply offensive, it’s completely unacceptable. The lack of empathy and the insinuation that we would fabricate such a loss for a modest refund is insulting beyond words.
This experience was upsetting enough without being met with suspicion and disrespect during a time of grief. I would strongly caution others before booking here. The lack of compassion and professionalism is truly...
Read moreI had the pleasure of staying here and it was a wonderful surprise. There weren't any pictures of the cottage on the website so I really had no idea what to expect...and I was spending the weekend with just me and 4 teenagers! I was a little anxious and hoping we would be happy with the location. We were all very pleasantly surprised with the cabin. Very new, clean and spotless. There were no complaints and all 5 of us were able to comfortably sleep and enjoy ourselves. It immediately felt like we were going to have a fun time. There is a very large deck furnished with a BBQ and 2 deck chairs. I had to clean the grease trap on the BBQ as it was full to the brim and had a very bad odor. The deck also gets full sun in the afternoon so maybe an umbrella would be a good idea. Nonetheless, one of my spoiled teenagers said she had a great time and was surprised by how many different things one could do in the area. That was a perfect compliment and made me feel relieved that I had made the right decision coming here. The neighbors are very friendly and we even had the kids playing Frisbee with them on the first night. It made us feel welcome and being the only adult with these kids, I really enjoyed being able to talk and enjoy the company of other adults. Certainly thinking of...
Read moreWe had a very pleasant stay here, the location is great, very central for exploring the area and with the unique ability to dock a boat. The owners are very attentive and are great to work with! In our case we were towing a boat and needed launch / retrieve service and that was done without any issues at all. The only real negative for us is that some of the seasonal sites are a bit rundown and showing their age which takes away from the overall feel of the park but not a deal breaker for us at all. A park spruce up would take my rating to 5 stars. The boat docks are about a 3-4 minute hike away from the park area and you must cross a road that can be busy at times but to find an RV Park in Muskoka with any docking at all is rare so that's a big plus in this park's favour in my estimation. We will definitely be back, there is tons to do...
