Our family of 6, plus two dogs stayed for a weekend in the pet friendly cabins, cabin #5. Here is a complete rundown from beginning to end… Check in was easy, not much to it. The rules(keep these in mind) were posted outside the office 1. Dogs to be leashed at all times, and supervised. 2. NO Atvs after 11pm. quiet time is after 11
We found our cabin which was cute. Fully equipped. Cons: the beds are HORRIBLE, the cabin was basically in the backyard of two seasonal trailers, ZERO privacy.
First night, we lit a fire, got comfy and was excited to start our weekend…the music from the the trailer in front of us was so loud we had no choice but to adapt to their tastes. Luckily it wasn’t horrible. Then, the tenants decided they wanted to come and play with their side by side ATVs which was basically parked 6 giant steps away from our fire pit. They started this monster machine and the music started blaring, RIGHT BESIDE our heads. Clearly drinking this guy jumps into his machine and circles around our cabin and parks again beside our fire and waits for his other drunk friends to get into their machines and they drove off to “crash” a birthday party according to the one guy.
Again, making the most of the night and feeling this could be a one off we called it a night. I was woken up a few times to their machines roaring past our cabins and lights shining in our room, Well into the middle of the night, far past 11pm.
Next night, pretty much the same thing. Except we couldn’t have our dogs outside as these same guys had dogs off leash and not supervised. I had a dog behind my lawn chair while we sat at the fire. My dogs going insane inside the cabin. It was so uncomfortable with their dogs roaming all over, my dogs not being able to be outside, the constant amounts of people walking through our lot, having to listen to their convos and music was just too much.
We called it quits after only an hour outside.
Our whole weekend was basically ruined. We didn’t complain to anyone because 1. There is noone around monitoring anything and 2. Even if we texted the number on the office, and they came to talk to their seasonal renters who are long time renters it would have made the whole situation even more uncomfortable.
The pros to this resort: If you like off-roading this is the resort for you. It’s a beautiful area The cabin that’s not pet friendly looks very nice and a bit more private. The lake would be fun in the summer.
I feel kind of deflated after this much anticipated vacation, I even went and picked my daughter up from University so she could relax and enjoy a weekend with her family but it was not even close to a relaxing...
Read moreIf I could leave a review with zero stars, I would. For this past long weekend, I rented one of the cabins. We were set to arrive late and the park was aware. Upon arrival, it was first observed that this was a trailer park (resort? Um no.) with zero signs identifying the location, no directional signs in the park and clearly, poor management. We couldn’t find the location of the cabin. Once we did, the pictures were incredibly misleading. It was said that it was on the water with one other cabin sharing a dock. The dock was damaged and half submerged, the cabin was surrounded by other cabins with no signs of numbers or where to park. I had to walk across someone else’s property to get to it. That wasn’t even the problem. The cabin from photos was obviously a cabin - older furniture, older appliances - I knew what I was getting into. What I didn’t expect was filth. The floors hadn’t been cleaned. The amount of dirt in the sinks and toilet were unacceptable. The shower and all the ceiling was mould. It was disgusting. I wouldn’t let an animal sleep there. I expected rustic - not disgusting. When a lady approached to show me how to turn on lights, I asked when it was last cleaned. When she told me that it was clean, I knew that there was no reason to argue because he standard of clean was simply disgusting. We made a decision to leave and I emailed the park management - HARMONY RESORTS to advise them it was unacceptable conditions and I would like a returned call to discuss the $900 I paid. At this time it was near 10pm and we were more than 4 hours from home with nowhere to stay. I didn’t hear back from HARMONY RESORTS until Wednesday afternoon when they advised me that nothing would be done because I left. What was I to do? Wait until someone came to clean it at 10pm?! The conditions were awful and their only response was that they are looking at upgrading their cabins. I’m out $900 and this resort company could care less. Please, please, please do not stay here. They need to be held accountable for their blatant disregard. They didn’t offer me another stay in a different cabin or location, they didn’t offer even a partial refund. They took my money and didn’t care about what happened to me. My long weekend was ruined. I had to drive another 4 hours home. We were in the truck for more than 10 hours total, and dragged our boat 900kms for nothing. We didn’t get to go anywhere because everything was booked. This is the result of a company, who doesn’t care...
Read moreJust reading the previous reviews as I sit to write mine and I'm honestly shocked! We had a great time at Harmony Resorts South Algonquin last week! We had not originally booked this location, but the site we had previously booked (through Air BnB) was damaged by a storm earlier this year. So Harmony Resorts offered us the site at South Algonquin instead. They honoured our dates and the price was comparable. We also arrive late, the admin was aware, but well before dark. We simply sent a text to the admin and they met us at the store. The tiny home was in excellent condition - very clean and easy to keep clean. The matresses were very comfortable and the ceiling in the sleeping lofts were high enough to sit up in. It was a bit tight, but we knew we were getting a tiny house. One loft had stairs with built in cubbys and the other had a removable ladder that the kids enjoyed. We easily slept all 4 of us and could have brought a friend for the kids. There was air conditioning (not that we needed it), a full service kitchen with the cutest propane stove! 3 burners and an oven that worked like a dream. We love to cook and came with our 2 kids - it was perfect. The kids loved the kitchen so much they even enjoyed doing the dishes, if you can believe it. The fridge looked new and had a freezer that we had not expected. We were able to keep the tubs of ice cream that we bought at the shop for the whole 5 day stay. The shower was supreme - endless hot water, though no mirror in sight. We were steps away from the water with a dock. I cannot say if it was private or shared. We did have a few RVs around us, but we were the only ones there the whole 5 day stay. It felt private. The dock was great for some fishing and there was a rope swing that the kids loved. We were able to rent 2 canoes that came with everything we needed and spent a lazy afternoon exploring the small lake and rivers. You can even canoe to High Falls, though as inexperienced paddlers, we chose to hike up instead. We could have stayed all summer! The only negative thing was that there was often no one at the store, though we had the number to text if we needed anything urgently. No wi-fi but our data worked well on site. Also, the admin on site said there would be garbage pick up, but there was not.
I cannot speak to the price increase, but I feel that we got exactly what we paid for. A lovely "glamping" tiny home experience. Perhaps Harmony Resorts has taken the previous...
