A quieter version to many American G-amping venues, while still always something to do including a great DJ at the various themed Saturday night dances; as well the regulars take turns organizing long weekend t-dances around the pool and annual fund-raising dinners cooked by some of the seasonal campers - raising money for pre-determined responsible charities in need of additional funds. Overnight campers with tents or RV's are welcome at a daily rate and there is even a decent separate clothing optional area. Friday campfires, and weekly afternoon volleyball are among mix and mingle activities for those seeking a large variety of opportunities! I aptly named the wooded pathway area behind the dance hall "the stations of the cross" for the boys who want to get a real early Sunday morning 'jump' on a 'religious experience' following the Saturday night dance, or any night for that matter! Overall though a mixed Gay & Lesbian experience, from drag queens to a good old Christmas In July with an afternoon optional gift exchange and some seasonal trailers decorated to the hilt, that give even the most over-zealous holiday decoration enthusiast to the test! A must "go and surrender to the experience" for even the most indoor or stay at home urban enthusiast, only 90 minutes or so from downtown Toronto on the Grand River nearTrafalger Road - roughly 15-20 km from Orangeville! New and eager ownership in 2014 along with the continued support of the former owners (who remain seasonal campers) has brought new perspective, extra energy, advancing timelines for planned improvements and the realization of many new...
Read moreThe Ridge is a welcoming place for all, gay, lesbian, trans, bisexual people. There has been a great deal of attention paid to bettering the park in the past few years. It has an improved outdoor pool area, with areas to either lay in the shade or soak up the sun. The restrooms/change rooms are very clean and well maintained. The park has a weekly Friday evening bonfire in the camping area as well as weekly dances Saturday nights in the Dance Hall across from the pool. The owners and staff are friendly and want to make sure everyone enjoys their stay in the park. It is only one hour and fifteen minutes from down town Toronto, and less from other places like Guelph or London. Camping fees are very reasonable. And for those who do not wish to camp they do have cabins/ apartments / rooms (with limited amenities) for rent. All have recently been renovated by the 'regulars aka seasonals' through a decoration/renovation contest. The rooms range from elegant couples retreat room to a Wonder Woman inspired theme room. The seasonal campers (regulars) are friendly and welcoming. This park is often not top of mind when seeking an LGBT campground but should be. Everyone should visit even just for a day to experience...
Read moreHello everyone, I am not writing this as a review, as it has been a long time since we had a trailer in the park, from about 1998 to 2002. I am just writing this to reach out to those I have not been able to contact, about my husband Joe Currah, our trailer was on Park Avenue. For all those that knew Joe, and a lot of you did, he was such an amazing out going and friendly man, to let anyone know that is still at the park that he passed away on Sept 15th, 2023. I was just going through some of photos of our time at the park, and the fondness and love that Joe had for the place and friends that we made. That is why I am posting this, in hopes that some of those that are still there that knew us see this. Thank you...
