My husband and I (and our old puppy) were trying to find somewhere to camp for the night, it was starting to rain and thunderstorms were expected shortly... Every other campground was closed, then we came across South Bay park, they were also closed for the night, but one of the locals of the park said to try Facebook message since no one was in the office. We received a response right away, the woman who runs the office apologized TO US for her not being there, (she had to run into town) even though it was well past their office hours and said she would be right there, and rushed back from town to make sure we had somewhere to stay! She asked if we'd like a site on the water, heck yes!! We were only planning on staying for the one night, but everyone there was so friendly and the view from our site was AMAZING! So we ended up staying for 4 nights and 5 days... They laughed saying that they figured we'd stay, and I am so glad we did!! We highly recommend this campground to anyone and everyone, especially those that want the experience of more deepish woods camping, but with well maintained washrooms. Best park we have ever...
Read moreSouth Bay Park is a lovely lakeside spot that’s perfect for a quiet stroll or a bit of relaxation by the water. The view across Elliot Lake is beautiful, especially around sunset, and there’s plenty of open space for sitting, picnicking, or just enjoying the breeze. Parking is convenient and close to the park area, and the pathways are smooth enough for walking or pushing a stroller. It’s generally peaceful, though you’ll see a few locals walking dogs or fishing nearby. The park is well-maintained and feels safe, with clear signage and benches in all the right places. Not a large park, but a great place to pause and enjoy the calm...
