It's a nice new hotel hotel, but there were things we didn't like when staying there for 5 night's. 1.) The hotel was build to services people working in Fort Mc, but still fell the hotel should have had rooms for families not just single working people. We didn't like the rooms only having a shower. o rooms offered a bathtub. and said we like a bathtub All the rooms had only one king or one queen bed. I would have taken a room with a bathtub not a shower, and two queen/king beds, but couldn't because the hotel doesn't have them. 2.) Two staff from the resturant that served were rude, but the rest of the staff were really nice. 3.) Still don't understand why they built a hotel where there is nothing. Can't walk to anything, there no park, stores nothing someone can walk to. It would be nice if they made a walking path/park next to the hotel because there really is nothing close that you could walk to. 4.) We found the cost higher then any other hotel in other cities. We were told it would be over $220.00 for one night with only one king bed. 5.) The beds are okay, but not as good as the Holiday Inn Express in Sterwood Park. We stayed there and the beds were the best we ever slept in. I didn't think the hotel was worth over 200.00 a night yes a great hot breakfast and omelet station we liked, but two staff in the resturant were rude to the point I spoke to the head staff and everyone knew I spoke to someone. 1.) The hotel is a very crazy layout. For me the biggest draw backs were 2.) No rooms with two bed 3.) No rooms with a jettub/bathtub with railing to get in and out. 4.) Couple of the serving staff for the restaurant were rude all the other staff were really nice, but word sure spread after I spoke with the head person about the two women. 5.) The hotel only had two small front loading washiers that were full most of the time. They also smelled with door closed. They both smelled like mold. You could smell the washers in the hall outside the laundry room with the door closed and the hotels not even a year old. 6.) Felt the price was to high for a room and should be the same as any city. Holiday Inn we stayed at the week before was $115.00 a night...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Sawridge in Fort McMurray for 10 nights, and I must say it was a great experience. The hotel exceeded my expectations in several aspects, making it an outstanding choice for accommodation.
First and foremost, the rooms at Best Western Sawridge were nothing short of fantastic. They were spacious, comfortable, and meticulously clean. The attention to detail in maintaining the rooms was evident, creating a welcoming and relaxing environment for guests. I truly appreciated the well-appointed amenities and the cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home.
One highlight of my stay was the breakfast. The hotel offered a wide selection of options, and what stood out the most was the made-to-order eggs. The chef was more than willing to prepare eggs just the way I liked them, and the result was always delicious. The breakfast experience was a delightful way to start each day, and it added an extra level of personalization to my stay.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the great gym facility available at Best Western Sawridge. It was well-equipped with modern equipment, allowing guests to maintain their fitness routine even while traveling. The gym provided a convenient and enjoyable space to exercise, ensuring that I could stay active during my stay.
I highly recommend Best Western Sawridge in Fort McMurray for an exceptional stay in an oil town. The rooms were fantastic, offering comfort and cleanliness. The breakfast, particularly the made-to-order eggs, was a delightful treat. Additionally, the well-equipped gym facility was a definite bonus. The hotel's commitment to providing a wonderful experience was evident...
Read moreUnsure if this is an old hotel that was completely renovated or what but it seems to have been done very nice. There are some older touches in the rooms to appear that it was a renovation but overall, the rooms were great. Lots of space and laid out well. Kinda weird that it had 2 closets but that in part makes me wonder if it’s not renovated.
Lots of parking and there is also underground if requested. They have large store area in the area entrance where you can buy just about anything convenience store related, including lottery. Just be careful, I got a card because I was a diamond member, telling me I got a free beverage. They didn’t tell me I had to get it right at check in. They got a bit cranky when I tried to get it my second night there. They allowed me to but it was pretty reluctantly.
I’m glad I didn’t have my young son with me. Found it a bit strange. There was this “interesting” looking female who was seen outside of the hotel chatting it up with high level staff with her belongings in a stroller. She seemed to be well liked/well known with the staff. She was in the restaurant both nights, eating very well and didn’t seem to have to pay for a meal. She’d go to several of the guys in the bar, seemed to be hitting on them. She was wearing a little bikini top and shorts that her butt cheeks were hanging out. Guessing she maybe works there or something but seemed a bit strange.
Overall though, a great place to stay if you’re travelling up north for work. Right at the north edge...
