Beautiful park!! I came here with my family and my two children. My children and I are from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The park is truly beautiful and my kids are having the best time , they are so excited to see Santa today.
Pros: beautiful is an understatement, big campsites, lots of kids to keep each other entertained. The river is also a beautiful place to spend the day. The water park is lots of fun especially when the weather is hot. Friendly staff for the most part. Huge campsites that are clean and well maintained and the price of the camping itself was a good price.
Cons:the cost of the water park did shock me. I am from Alberta and I'm use to these splash pads by the dozens in our neighbourhoods and they are free. Maybe they can add a fee to the camping .. here for 4 days with two kids at 12 dollars a day for the small water park is not cool. The bathrooms are disgusting, I'm awake writing this at 8am and there's no reason for the bathroom to be disgusting. Clean them at night maybe so they are fresh for the day. There's a hockey and basketball court but you can't rent the equipment, who goes camping and thinks about hockey sticks? There's also Christmas today and no one told us about it when we booked? So now I have to come up with some reason why my two children didn't get a gift from Santa. I don't have Facebook so I can't follow their Facebook page . The lady working the main store seems rude and not interested in answering any questions , almost like it's a chore for her.. " you give us a gift and write your campsite and Santa will come to your campsite" I said" but no one told us about this when we booked weeks a go" and she just didn't care. I also feel there should be cases of water , bread etc at the store. The same lady just told me to go to butts esso.., but we have a motorhome and No car and from Alberta so thanks lady , I'll just wander away and look myself.
This place definitely has room for improvement but we did enjoy our time and my boys had a blast! Will be back if we ever come to Newfoundland again and will...
Read moreWe spent a week at Blue canoe during the summer of 2020. The park was pristine, and our family thoroughly enjoyed all the amenities. So much so, that we planned our full vacation at B/C the following summer. We called and booked in May, staff called to confirm our booking in late June, and we called to confirm the booking one last time, before our vacation. Once we arrived, we were told at the gate of a new $10.00 per day/per child fee for the splash pad. I was flabbergasted, as this was not the case the previous year; there was no advertisement of this on social media or websites; the staff did not provide us with a courtesy "by the way, we have a change in fees" during any of our calls. We were now in the park, with 4 children, and taken off guard by this huge expense that was not budgeted for. We asked for some sort of family rate, since we were a large family and were going to be staying there anyway. I wanted a reasonable solution that did not result in my children unable to use the splash pad. The manager was incredibly rude about the entire situation, and I asked to speak to the owners... They never did return my call, and avoided me when I came to the office. On top of all of this, the cleanliness of the park decreased exponentially. The showers were grungy, the garbage's were always overflowing, garbage collection at the sites were few and far between and the splash pad itself was very dirty. It was a terrible experience. We did not book there this summer, but we were contemplating going for a day pass while we camp at Catamaran. I called to inquire on day pass rates: $5.00 per person (if not using any amenities) $12.00 per child to use the playground area only..... $40.00 per child to use the splash pad and playground! $40.00 per day!!!!! I have no idea what B/C think they have there, but it is most certainly not worth that outrageous expense. Until B/C can offer reasonable rates and a clean environment with kinder staff, we will never return. If I could give negative...
Read moreThis park is quite nice and has a lot to offer. The low rating is because of their pricing structure. We just stayed at Beothuck family park in GFW for two nights at a total cost of $76. Blue canoe charges $110 for two nights, however they've added a little catch to grab a little more of your hard earned money. They say they can't guarantee your site that you selected unless you pay a "lock in fee" of $15...😂😂. My question is how does $15 actually guarantee the site? They actually charged 64% more than Beothuck family park. Also, two nights at Kona Beach park will cost you $74.80. So they're charging 67% more than Kona Beach Park.
Beautiful park... Just tired of schemes trying to make a few...
