Very nice park. Decided to come here for the night just sleeping in my van but I needed laundry and a shower can't beat the price if you don't need hookups. Beautiful beach and nice little waterfall. Washers are still free. Two different dryers one takes loonies and one takes quarters still works out to $1 for 20 minutes either way. Good washers and dryers great shape almost new. Bathrooms are very clean nice showers. The only gripe I have is you have to push a button for the showers and it only lasts 14 seconds ( Yes I timed it). So that's a bit of a pain in the butt having to push the button 20x. What more can you ask for I'm staying in the section with site number 3 unserviced. Nice and close to the ferry. And site number 3 is right where the split for the one-way goes so I don't have to go all the way around I can just come back down the way I went in. I was originally in 55 but too crowded there for me. Guy working at the front gate I think his name was Brian he was like super nice. Campsite 14 and 15 are right beside the waterfalls one on either side they are don't unserviced tho. 16 is right across from it. You can still hear the falls. It's just a small waterfall but it's really nice. I'm posting a picture of the sites. Just so people has an idea. It's marked up a little bit the orange spots are unserviced. There are other spots that are unservice but they were reserved like the ones beside the waterfalls. But it gives you an idea you can always call ahead and say you like this site number and ask if it has...
Read moreBoil water advisory when we stopped in Sep 11. We arrived with an empty tank since the previous Prov Park in Nova Scotia (Mira Lake) also had a boil water advisory. The nice lady at the check in office told us they "recommended" to not consume the water. I felt like we were supposed to read between the lines of that statement, like maybe it was ok, but she just didn't want to commit. The road driving in was terrible with potholes, we had to pay a park entry pass fee, it just seemed wrong to have to pay an additional fee to camp with no water and horrible roads.
An email from the Park Service advising of the boil water advisory would have been nice.
The campground is convenient to the ferry, about 13 minutes, so it is a good option when getting off the ferry in the evening.
We also were able to boondock here (no fee) on our return trip to Nova Scotia. The park was closed for the season, but the gate was open. The gate attendant had told us several weeks earlier that we coukd boondock here. All services including restrooms were shut down. There were about five other...
Read moreWe stayed 2 nights prior to heading out on Ferry to North Sydney. Fantastic camp, highly recommend site 14 for tent. It’s by the falls and the sound of the waterfalls was great to sleep with.
Some notes. There are out house Bathrooms throughout the camp but the main bathroom was clean and had showers included in the price, a sink and counter to wash your dishes as well as a washer and drier (not expensive). There is wifi you can only get near the staff office and main washroom. Important to note there is no cell service here at this campground but I enjoyed being disconnected and if I needed to call someone, it was a nice short walk to the area with wifi and call or check on my upcoming ferry trip.
Plus your only a 10 min drive to Port aux Basque with diners coffee shops grocery stores and a little store called Newfoundland Treasures. To get our last min souvenirs.
Staff was warm and helpful and would bring wood right to your site. $5 bundle. Would last a night or two per bundle.
We’e been here before ‘98 and we will see you again soon
Highly...
