Riverfront Chalet's boasts a stunning and beautiful spot on the Exploits River, offering a peaceful and quiet retreat perfect for immersing yourself in nature. However, our stay was marred by several issues that left us quite disappointed. Upon arrival, we were surprised to discover that nothing seemed to be working. The Wi-Fi was down for the entire duration of our stay, the TV was non-functional, the BBQ wouldn’t light, and the locks on the main door felt rather sketchy. The biggest deal breaker, however, was the lack of air conditioning. These styles of cabins or chalets are designed to trap heat, and with no air conditioning to combat Central Newfoundland's unrelenting summer heat and humidity, sleeping there was extremely unpleasant. The provided fans only circulated the hot, humid air, making it a miserable experience. If you're planning to stay here during the summer months, I highly recommend looking for a place with air conditioning. On a positive note, the staff are very friendly and eager to help, and the site offers a fire pit and hot tub, which can be enjoyable. Overall, while there are some positive aspects, the lack of functional amenities and the extreme heat make Riverfront Chalet's a stay we cannot recommend during the summer months. In cooler times of the year, it might be a decent stay, but for us, the summer experience was far from pleasant.

We stumbled on these cabins by accident, literally just looked up some cottages we could crash in along with way across the island. These were close enough that we wouldn't have to drive in the dark. Well I tell you, I never even knew we had such beautiful places in Newfoundland! These cabins are massive, clean, beautiful, out of this world! Huge bathroom, with a stand up shower and big tub. Fair size bedroom downstairs. The kitchen/ dining/ living room area is massive! Tall ceiling and the hole front is facing the water, a tall wall of windows. Then there's the room up in the loft! Gorgeous! There's a wrap around porch that attaches to the other cabins, and they all head down towards a hot tub! Which was a complete surprise! I called right away and asked for another night! I cant recommend this place enough! This tucked away cozy cabin experience is too fantastic to explain! You got to go see for yourself!

It is a descent place for adults but for people with kids there are significant issues that you need to be ready for. When you pay close to $300 for a night you expect service and this is where this place fails miserably. The location and physical quality of the cabins is good. If you are a couple, go for it. If you are family with young ones, PLEASE read on

First off this is a family owned place. Issue with Family ownership is that there is no management based on your ability but on who is closest to you (its cheaper to have a relative than hire a professional team I guess). So you end up with people handling this place that are clueless on what "service" means. When I arrived I had some minor issues like no Wifi, no phones (you must have a cell phone on Telus or you cannot even call the front desk), no one picking the phone etc. Adding to that was that the water went cold after taking two showers. I had my two young ones and one infant in addition to my wife with me. The water was not just cold, but freezing (you cannot hold your hand under it). Called and got told that it should be good in 30 minutes. Fast forward to 3 hrs and still same. With smelly kids this was turning a sour but no biggee as kids were happy with the place. After hrs I tried calling the front desk and no one picked up. Suddenly the remoteness of this place hit me. If there is any issues with fire/injury you are hosed (later I was told "the phone was in my basement and I was sleeping upstairs" Good one). Called around 10 times. No answer. Imagine if this was a emergency not just a water issue. Nearest town is 20km and no one is available. I was later told also that the owner is not in and all they have is one guy who is not "as good as the real owner" (who cares). No issues still, Trying to sleep I pulled out the air mattress and after inflating it for 10 minutes found a gaping hole on the side (a piece of tissue was stuck in it...nice). Now it was becoming annoying. Granted I finally got hold of a new one from them but come one!. I am tired and need to sleep not spend 1 hr looking for bed space in a supposedly four star chalet (i by the way hate the word chalet now).

Still moving on. Woke up in the morning and got my hot shower. After 2 showers back to square one. Got call back from the owner who said that the limit of this cabin is 2 showers for hot water. Really? I never realized how much you need hot water. You cannot wash dishes (which you have to wash as this 4 star place has no dishwasher), you cannot shave and any other business. I literally had to heat the water in a kettle and use that to get my kids clean in the morning. Adding insult to injury was the comments from the owners blaming each other and saying that this is a remote place don't expect Wifi or too much hot water or air beds working (apparently that is the previous guest fault who did not inform him on the hole).

Later went for snow showing and got directed to the wrong area (towards river not the river trail) and almost entered the frozen river and realized that this is not right. Called back and got told "Oops, not that way, the other way, I just remembered". By this time I smiled and pulled my wife back and put on a brave smile saying "come on where is the adventure if you don't get lost once in a while".

At the end I had to clean dishes after my family, empty the trash cans (it is required: or you get hit by a fee) . We could not use the jacuzzi which they proudly display in pictures.

Overall the place (as in physical place) is great. the cabin is well made. Maybe they should add a working good capacity water heater and a dishwasher and answer the phones but then again I cannot ask for everything since we are in the middle of nowhere (and "not in a hotel" as the owner...

There were 4 of us stayed at the vacation chalet Wednesday night although the chalet and property was beautiful, we were a little disappointed in our stay considering it was almost 500 dollars a night! | The vacation chalet sleeps 6 but they only have 6 bath towels, with the hot tub outside those towels weren’t long getting soaked, then we had none to use for showers! When I voiced my concerns I was told they also leave a bunch of hand towels which we had to use to clean up the water on the floor! When leaving the hot tub and going inside your dripping quite a bit of water and they do not even leave a mop! If you plan on using the hot tub you might want to bring your own towel! | Our biggest concern was when we got up the next morning between 9:30 and 10am there was a man cleaning the hot tub, then he moved on to shovelling the back patio where he can see right into the chalet through a big window and patio door that has no curtains or blinds! He didn’t even bother to knock on the door and let us know he was there! When I voiced my concerns about this I was told pretty much that’s it that’s how it is and we could still use our hot tub before he came and after he was finished until check out at 11! However I work as a vacation rental manager and I know that was wrong he should have knocked on our door to let us know he was around! When we booked this chalet we booked this one because of the private hot tub! Not very private if someone is randomly gunna show up and drive you out for 1/2 hour! Check out time is 11 on the website and no where does it say anything about cleaning staff showing up early! We took our things and left this place is way over priced and we will not ever...

My wife and I stayed in one of the chalets from March 23 to 26, 2023. Overall the facility was acceptable. One obvious shortcoming was the absence of wifi. This in spite of the website saying that wifi is included. We contacted the management as soon as we found out the wifi didn’t work and we’re given a number of different passwords none of which worked. My wife had planned on doing some work during our stay which was not possible. Other constructive criticism is as follows:

-we opted for the private chef service which was excellent except when the chef went to start the barbecue it wouldn’t start. The battery in the the barbecue starter was dead and there was no lighter in the kitchen drawers. -the lighting in the kitchen/living room was very dim due to the light in the one of the overhead fan lights being burned out. we couldn’t turn off the overhead fans there were areas of ice in the parking area in front of the chalet which made it difficult to drive and walk. There were deep pot holes in the short driveway between the TCH and the chalet main parking area. -one of the glass doors in the patio door was fogged up due to the insulating glass gas seal having developed a leak.

It is obvious that the owners have invested a lot in this facility. And on the second day of our stay we did get a visit from a person asking if we needed anything. He fixed the barbecue and mentioned that the owners were looking into Starlink to address the wifi issue. Suggest a more proactive...
