The place is modern and warm, beautiful and clean. However, there are several things that might make you reconsider staying here - or at least adjust your expectations.
Room The room is lovely and spotless. However, it’s equipped with an old-style TV (not a smart TV), so if you want to watch Netflix or anything beyond basic satellite channels, you’ll have to use your laptop. You also won’t be able to stream to the TV unless you’ve brought an HDMI cable with you.
Another downside is that they don’t provide any moisturizer or lotion, unlike most hotels. So if you forgot yours at home or assumed the hotel would have some (as many do), you’ll need to travel 2.5 km to the nearest pharmacy - either on foot or by a 40-minute bus ride that takes a long detour. Not ideal if you don’t have a car and become a big problem if you got a sun burn.
We also received a towel with huge holes in it. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to take a photo to share here.
Common Areas Again, everything looks well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing. But the pool is far too small for the number of guests, and it’s usually full of children during the day. If you’re a couple looking to relax without getting splashed, the pool quickly stops being a viable option.
A possible solution could be to install lights and make the pool area adults-only after dark. Right now, the area becomes very dark once the sun sets, making it uninviting to spend time there.
Food There’s only one restaurant on-site, so if you’re not a fan of the menu - tough luck. The service is extremely slow; we waited over an hour for our meal after placing the order. I noticed pizzas are coming fast though.
Dinner was decent, though overpriced for the quality (looks good but tastes really not so good). The desserts were a highlight. But lunch? Avoid it unless you’re okay with a $9 hot dog.
I ordered a shrimp sandwich for $19, and it was honestly disappointing - very tiny and lacking in flavor. My husband’s $18 burger was dry and tasteless. The next day, we went to a nearby popular restaurant and had an incredible lobster lunch for two for just $58! One part of the meal included a lobster sandwich that looked similar to my shrimp sandwich - but it was generously filled and only a part of a much larger, delicious meal.
Final Thoughts All of these issues are small and fixable. This is a great place to come with kids, and the views are absolutely stunning. I truly hope they make a few improvements, because with some adjustments, this could be a truly exceptional...
Read moreWe were there for a couple getaway. Our stay was nearly perfect. There was probably two things that prevented it for being perfect for us.
The Good: Service was great from pre arrival to checkout. Nothing to complain about there.
Location is perfect. You get the best of both worlds if you're travelling to Quebec City. You can relax outside of the city and in nature while being 20+ minutes away from Montmorency Falls or Downtown Quebec City. You have a couple of restaurants near by plus grocery store, SAQ and pharmacy. Location is easily 10/10 for us.
L'ilot restaurant was also great. However we only went there for breakfast.
The room itself is gorgeous. We took a classic lake view room and although it was a corner view, the view of the lake was still great. Maybe some would think there is a lack of privacy if you're on the balcony or curtains are opened, but didnt bother us. Room was large, includes a sofa, microwave, mini fridge, bistro table, TV and LOTS of storage space (No seriously... ALOT of storage space) There is even some gym equipment. Bathroom was also large with a double sink and a rainfall shower. Do wish there was a bath in there though.
The "Bad": I wouldnt necessarily say its bad because we knew we were there during a down season, but we wished there were more activities. Seemed like there were only two during our stay, Yoga and Gym. TV having no smart apps was a bit weird, but that didnt bother us as we didnt plan to watch TV during our stay, but keep in mind if you wanted to watch some netflix on TV during your stay.
The "Ugly": Now heres the only thing we really didnt like, the bed and pillows Maybe it's because we are a bit spoiled with our bed at home but we felt the bed was really uncomfortable and that's with a mattress pad. The pillows were also pretty bad and we had to pile up pillows for it to be acceptable. I wont say it ruined our stay but it did prevent us from having a good nights sleep, which is part of the reason we wanted to get away.
So all in all. Our stay was good and I dont have much to complain about other than the bed. But for us, the complaint about the bed is enough for us to not consider returning to this hotel. If they ever do upgrade the mattress and pillows, we would...
Read moreOriginally we were to stay in Old Quebec, so happy we found this place! This hotel is located in a small ski town, 20 mins north of Quebec City. It is situated on a small lake. The hotel is fairly new and modern. The design of the hotel is just wonderful and everything just makes sense. Lots of little details in the stay, some examples are, fire pit on the beach for night lounges, kids room with popcorn, water at the front for people with dogs, bottle waters for you upon your departure. Upon my check in Catherine and Christine checked us in. They are both wonderful. I was at front desk every day and Christine was just AMAZING. She informed me of everything that I needed to know. They have a TV that list the activities but its in French. She would tell us about Happy hour and BBQ on the beach. These are also listed on the sheet of paper that is given to you, but people like me are lazy and dont read it! The rooms are modern and well laid out, the furniture are all of high end. There are canoe, kayaks, bikes, swimming pool, lake, hot tubs all for your use while there. They have a very well equipped gym as well. There is a beautiful restaurant on site, it looked and smelled divine, we did not have the pleasure of eating there as most nights its fully booked. I highly recommend you book your tables upon arrival. The town does not have many restaurants and they are busy and booked most nights we were there. We found the hotel and town to be charming and beautiful if you are a nature lover. It has everything you need and only mins from down town and the other attractions such as the falls. People who work there are very nice and friendly as well as the people who stay there. We had no issues. I read in some review about people complaining about children. From all the resorts I have been to I would say the kids that come here are the most behaved and polite. I had them open doors for me! I would definitely recommend this place for singles, families, retired, and young people. You will feel refreshed, rejuvenated and want to come back again for more! Thank you to all the staff at Entourage for making this a memorable holiday for me...
