Hotel itself is ok. Older in need of renovation but nice. It’s clean at least. But there is no elevator for 3 floors!! Very inconvenient when you have a lot of luggage or more importantly when you’re handicapped. I watched a poor guest take one step at a time to try to reach the 3rd floor. It was awful. I felt horrible for her. Very much a family hotel so very noisy. Not the place to stay on business as I was. Plus I had asked 3 times that housekeeping NOT knock on my door as we typically finish our workday very early in the morning. Still, they came 3 times. Dirty rooms, leaking fridge, filthy carpet The worst thing about the place is the restaurant and bar. The food was horrible and so overpriced. The Chef apparently wants to portray themselves as a fine dining gastro cook but does not live up to it. The service is inattentive not noticing I did not eat my meal. When I called the waiter over to finally remove my plate, I told him I thought the food was awful. He said “sorry” and walked away. No one else came to my table. Upon leaving I met the host and he asked me if I liked my meal. I told him it was horrible and my scallops were like rubber. He replied “well maybe you are not familiar with the way seafood is cooked”. When I mentioned that I was a professional chef and also wrote reviews on dining, he simply walked away. I tried the bar afterwards as I was starving by this point. I had cold fries with mayo. There too the service was bad. Not to mention that when I went to the bar to pay, (because the bartender never came back to my table) he was speaking to a waitress who said in French that her guests were obnoxious. ( ok she said it away from her table) but then the bartender replied in French “what do you expect, they’re anglophones “. And he repeated it as he rang me out. I was stunned as I replied “huh, I’m anglophone as well”. I told him his comment had been the topping on my horrible experience. Kids were running through the bar to the dining room as I tried to leave. Curb your children people for gosh sake. I will never go back to this restaurant again and have told my story to everyone on my production crew....
Read moreThis is a hotel that should be so much better. We arrived at 9.30 in the evening after a long journey. We asked for a glass of wine to be told, bluntly, that the "bar is shut". We asked for something to be brought to the room, to which we were once again told that the bar is shut. There is no safe in the room, and the room felt tired as did the general furnishings around the building. The bathroom is about a 2 star, if that. The staff had the longest faces I can remember especially all of the staff in the restaurant. They clearly did not want to be there or want to serve customers. We turned up for breakfast on our first morning to be told that we would have had to have booked although we were not told this on arrival the previous evening. The same happened at dinner when the restaurant looked half full, yet we were told that as we had not booked there were no spaces left all evening. This was at 7pm. So we had to drive a distance away from the hotel to find some food. We didn't have kids but the games room downstairs looked like something out of a 1970's scout hut. This place needs a new look at itself as with care and some investment it might actually look and feel like a hotel in the 2020's rather than one from 25 years ago. We had a ground floor room. I think a herd of elephants must have booked the room upstairs such was the noise each time they walked anywhere. Worse was sitting outside beneath the balcony. This will fall down I am sure - certainly the creaking and groaning from the balcony suggests as much.
Having said this the location is superb and is a good place to stay for Quebec City. Don't expect any modern day...
Read moreIf you're looking for a quiet, relaxing, and nature filled setting, this is the hotel for you. The hotel has tons of charm, tranquil, and picturesque.
Pros- location was phenomenal. Outside of town in a relaxing forest, with that quiet setting on the lake. The hotel had updates, including the bathrooms. The beds were comfortable, and even though the hotel was nearly full, I felt like we had our space. The hotel was clean. The pools were fantastic, they do have that spa like feel where there were no loud children running around. We did have our two school-age children with us, but they understood the temperament and demeanor of the pool was that of a relaxing feel. All of the kids we did see had the same respectfulness. There were also several saunas, an outdoor pool that was heated, several outdoor hot tubs, and then a waterfall cooling pool. Outside had tons to do including mini golf, kayaks, paddle boards, walking trails, many benches, swings, and rocking chairs. There was a pool attendant as well. Loved the patios as well. We even caught a few shooting stars sitting outside in the evening.
Cons- The hotel did not have an elevator, and there were some stairs. Or maybe we just didn't see the elevator? The fitness center either has weird hours, or something happened where it wasn't open at 7:00 in the morning. Not a huge deal with the walking trails outside/all the athletic activities available.
Overall, if we were in this area again we would definitely stay here. It was well...
