We were excited to stay at Fraser Cove Campground for the first night of our road trip, but we underestimated the time to get there and called to inform that we were going to arrive later than the check in time limit (9pm). We were told that we won't be granted access to the campground as the gates will be closed. We were not offered any alternative solution even though there was no vacancy at all in the extended area and we ended up paying for a night in a motel, while still being charged the full amount by Fraser Cove Campground. All the other campgrounds we stayed at were way more accommodating, by having their gates open at all times and by letting people check in the morning after arrival.
EDIT following the owner's response: 1- We asked for a late check-in at 11pm, not 1am, which is not ideal but was acceptable to any other campground we stayed at. 2- We're talking about a few minutes to get to the spot and park, it has never bothered anyone anywhere else. 3- The owner should know that things out of one's control can happen such as a delayed flight, accidents or congestion on the road, or delays at the rental company to only name a few. The owner's condescending tone is not acceptable and reflects his poor client service. I suggest you avoid this...
Read moreI would not recommend this campground. Even though it is a beautiful area to tent camp, the owner / host is a real jerk. His treatment of his customer’s is poor. I have stayed in hundreds of campgrounds over the last two decades and I can count on one hand hosts that are less than nice to say the least. He is definitely on the short list. Also, some of the items listed on his website are not true. You can not paddle board or kayak at site. - One shower for entire campground. Sink was clogged. I could say more but I will end with the following. Buyer beware! Oh, area is on fire north and south. You will be breathing in smoke the entire time. - the host just responded to - not a sorry but accusing me of staying to long in bathroom- I took a three minute shower - he is saying thirty minutes- he saw my car outside and is saying I was in there to 30 minutes- I was waiting on another couple to exit - this host’s response should tell you everything- a host that is timing customers and then gets it wrong - Once again,...
Read moreHave been remiss in not posting this review sooner for this excellent campground. We stayed here for two nights in June and were given a beautiful spot at the end of the road next to the river, and were able to watch fisherman reeling in prehistoric sturgeon right from our campsite. The site is clean and well maintained, and it has a single shower and flush toilet along with outhouses that are also kept spotless. There are a great number of the rental RVs that use the campground on a nightly basis as it is on their loop, but that just adds to the international flavour as you meet your fellow guests. The staff was very helpful and friendly throughout our stay, and the campground is located just down below the highway and a short stroll from the old wooden bridge that I used to use to enter the town when I lived in Lillooet as a child. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely stay here again as a great base for exploring...
