We stopped at the Mabou River Inn on the way to the beautiful Cabot Trail.
It had all the comforts and amenities of a 4 star hotel while feeling comfortable and homey. The property was very well kept. It had lots of parking and was a little over a half mile from gas and groceries if you felt the need for it.
We were 4 adults and a kid so we took the apartment. It had two bedrooms, a kitchen, living area, dresser/ baggage area for shoes and coats and an entry area with lots of nooks, and a front porch with seating.
Rooms had dressers, standing fans, closets, etc. The family room came with AC and fireplace. There was dining table that could seat 4.
The decor had the look and feel of a boutique hotel with a personal touch. The bathroom was spacious. There were tons of outlets to charge all our electronics.
The breakfast was included and very generous. Pizzas at this place were pure heaven and seemed to be a great hit locally as well judging by the number of takeouts in the evening. The owner makes the dough in-house.
Since we were on a road trip, it was a great pit stop to do laundry ( coin laundry - not in room) and rearrange gear. We had a really pleasant stay. We were very well rested, organized and refueled for the rest of the journey. The owners were very attentive and hospitable, friendly and informative and seem very invested in preserving their...
Read moreFANTASTIC! ... is the best way to describe this Family run Inn here in Mabou. Very friendly service and welcoming.
Great location just off the highway and beside the Celtic Shores Costal Trail.
Our room was basically an apartment with huge kitchen, living room and two bedrooms. Our room also had a full size washer and dryer. While the unit may not be exactly the latest in modern, it was fully functional, clean and well maintained.
Their water pressure was incredible making a hot shower one of the best I've had in a long time in any hotel or inn. The included breakfast was awesome, and very generous servings.
You have to try their home made bread French toast as it is by far the best I've had and literally melts in your mouth.
While we are only staying a single night, we definitely will be booking here on our next trip to Cape...
Read moreFirst of all Dave and Donna are the nicest people EVER! We were visiting from the states and Canadians are just the nicest people ever! Dave went out of his way multiple times to help us out. We stayed for two nights during stormy weather on a bicycle tour around Cape Breton, and what a treat! We loved the Mabou River Inn and we loved Mabou. Our room (#7) was clean, beautiful and with a very comfortable bed; bathroom was just across the hall, also immaculately clean and spacious. Laundry and a kitchenette with fridge came in handy. The full breakfast was delicious and made to order! I think we ate three meals at the Red Shoe Pub and saw music on two nights- so much fun! Great little grocery store in town and we enjoyed the beach at West Mabou park. Highly recommend this town and definitely...
