For our first trip to Manitoulin Island, my wife & I looked at all possibilities for accommodations. We were set on Inn at Gore Bay with the pub next to it, but I kept looking. I found Bayside Resort & it caught my attention. We stayed here for 2 nights & could not be more pleased with the choice. It's a 3 cabin "OASIS" on the Island. We chose the more spacious cabin #2. Melissa & her team are absolutely outstanding. Not only are they professional about their property, they are down to earth people that you can have interactions with while you're here with no problem. |The cabin/cottage is immaculate. Fresh, clean, all the amenities you need from bedding, great shower, dining, full kitchen, comfortable living room furniture with Shaw satellite & every channel you can imagine at your fingertips.|Muskoka chairs on front patio, bbq, side picnic table with umbrella, fire pit. A few step walk to the lakefront & you have numerous muskoka chairs to sit in & enjoy a tranquil out of this world sunset.|We only had 1 full day to explore the island & from this location in 6 hours with numerous stops & not rushing at all, we visited Providence Bay...walked the beach & ate at the restaurant; then drove to Mindemoya Cave...20 min walk once there & well worth it; then to Janet Head Lighthouse just north of Gore Bay where we walked a bit on the beach & had our picnic lunch; then around Gore Bay to East Bluff Lookout which looks down on Gore Bay from the other side; then to Bridal Veil Falls where we walked behind the falls & walked in the water below. Many people were swimming.|Groceries, lcbo/beer, gas are all no more than a 20 min drive from here. |Bottom line is....we highly recommend this OASIS on the Island to anyone & everyone. We will...

Read moreOur family was pleasantly surprised to find these cottages located on the Wikwemikong Reserve on Manitoulin Island. We needed accommodations for a weekend while we attended a ball tournament in the Wikwemikong Community. My husband and I, our 4 year old daughter, my mother in law and father in law all fit comfortably in the gorgeous 3 bedroom cottage. These cottages are new builds, not the run down shacks that most people rent out on the island. Kitchen was fully equipped and even provided coffee and sugar. Dining table was spacious. Beds were clean and comfortable. Shoreline is just steps from the door. There is even a private patio with BBQ with each cottage. Shower was a walk in glass stall, very modern and beautiful. Every feature was in keeping with the log frame style of the building. My only caution would be that the stairs are fairly steep and I believe the loft bedrooms in the other cabins are accessed by ladder. |Also, the heat method is by radiant floor heat, so it can't be easily adjusted. It was unfortunately very chilly during our stay and because the heat is a continuous method, it was not turned on for the season. |This place is ideal because it is so beautiful, they have flexible and convenient booking, where as most places only book on a weekly basis in the area. The price was incredibly reasonable. Most similarly priced rentals in the area are run down shacks from the 40's-70's. Highly recommend and it is First Nations family owned, which we were very happy to contribute to supporting...
