River Ridge Lodge — Hotel in Martins River

We stayed at River Ridge Lodge for 8 nights in October 2019. The beautiful rooms with lots of natural light are very spacious and comfortable with everything you need from hairdryer to ironing board. They are decorated so nicely and aesthetic with an obviously love for the detail. The hosts Frauke and Mike are just great. Whatever questions we had they were more than happy to give a recommendation.

We can highly recommend this country Mahone Bay accommodation on Martins River! It was our favourite lodging in Nova Scotia on our NS round trip. Definitely no need to look further if you look for a great place to stay in Mahone Bay as it is a beautiful and lovely riverside Bed & Breakfast (and the breakfast definitely left nothing to be desired!).

It is the perfect location to explore Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Oak Island, Halifax and Rissers Beach. As River Ridge Lodge is only a short drive to the Mahone Bay restaurants, lunch and dinner is taken care off very well. Visiting nearby Saltbox Brewery was one of our highlights.

I hesitated about doing a weekend trip to Mahone Bay but I'm sure glad I decided to go because it was amazing and one of the things that made it so amazing was staying at the River Ridge Lodge. Frauke, the owner, was waiting for us when we arrived and was super nice and accommodating while we settled in. There was an issue at first with payment as I had a gift certificate but it was all sorted out the first night. I slept great in the beautiful room and had everything needed including hot, fresh coffee first thing in the morning. Frauke have us some great suggestions on where to eat and what to see and we wouldn't have had a clue if we had of just went blind looking for the best places to eat. The surrounding yard and grounds are beautiful and it's so peaceful, especially the boathouse area across the street. Downtown Mahone Bay is only a five or ten minute drive away and we were within an hour of many other great places including Lunenburg, LeHave, Bridgewater, Rissers Beach and Crescent Beach. I will definitely stay here again the next time I travel...

River Ridge Lodge had so many great reviews, my wife and I thought we should check it out ourselves to see what was being done so well. We booked for 5 nights and can confirm that everything is being done well. Frauke and Mike are fantastic hosts. They recommended restaurants and sights to see along the South Shore. The restaurant recommendations were especially helpful as many restaurants were closed certain mid-week evenings. Their website is also a comprehensive resource that provides a wealth of information about shops, restaurants and hikes in the area. The rooms were spotless, roomy and very comfortable. Almost any amenity you could think of was available. The grounds were gorgeous and we especially liked spending some time each evening sitting by the boathouse along the river. The location of the lodge is very convenient to Mahone Bay, Chester and Lunenburg. But, we also took side trips to Halifax and Wolfville.
