We were there for one night. Excellent service .... rooms clean... would have been a great view from the window if we would not have gotten fog both days. A bummer .... but besides that beutifull place. Very pleased.

Nice clean renovated cabins. Quiet serene location. Short walk to beach. Great place to watch the tide come in and out. Staff where very friendly and welcoming. Wish I had time to stay for more than one night.

We come up every year, the beach is beautiful, the owners are lovely and the rooms are clean & comfy. I keep telling everyone I come for the sandy beach but I also come for the yummy homemade cheese buns 😋

Beautiful place location wise, but in my years of travelling I have never met more of a genuinely rude human being in my life. I've stayed at some incredibly dingy hostels around the world, with really bad service, but this takes the cake. I have never been more compelled to write a warning to every human being venturing into this neck of the woods until this atrocious experience.

We arrived at night, in order to see my aunt's wedding. As soon as we arrived, my Dutch boyfriend lit up a cigarette, outside, not thinking it was a problem (as you wouldn't outside). As soon as this happened, Russ came outside yelling his lungs off, telling him off. When they tried to apologize, he yelled back saying he wouldn't allow it and how stupid we were for (god forbid) smoking outside.

My boyfriend was extremely perturbed, and felt so bad. It was like scolding a three year old for stealing.

We had not EVER been told that these were the rules. It would have been acceptable for him to come out and politely explain the rules, but alas, he chose to come out yelling. And the fact that he did not even listen to our apologies was astounding.

We were told to smoke in a certain area on the grass, in the same manner. However, the next day, my boyfriend and brother were in the back, outside, and they forgot, assuming smoking outside was ok. Immediately as he struck the lighter, out comes running good ol' Rusty. He had very clearly been watching us and was shouting loudly and violently, threatening us. Very creepy and upsetting. We tried to apologize again and he yelled back saying : "NO APPOLOGIES." They were genuinely sorry and he never tried to save face.

My brother did this a third time upon exiting the property, and yes, he was also in the wrong, but the way it was handled was in the most unprofessional way I have ever seen. He yelled, told my brother to, and I directly quote: "shove it up his ass!" He also made it personal by calling him, multiple times, an idiot.

He swore multiple times to my brother, calling him an "f*ing idiot" Infront of my 16 and 17 year old cousins.

HOWEVER, what really grinds my gears is that he directly insulted my 16 year old cousin, who has short hair, by calling her a boy. Not by mistake, but deliberately, in a very homophobic/sexist way.

On to the actual property: we lost water directly before the wedding. His wife was nice about it, telling us. When we brought it up to Rusty, he was hostile and rude.

The room we stayed in was small and dingy. Fine but not for the price.

Regardless, I, and everyone we were with, have never felt more disrespected in our lives. As you can see there are tons of other reviews stating similar things, so if you value your dignity and respect as a paying customer, AVOID THIS PLACE.

As someone who has been in the customer service industry for 10 years, I think it's time for someone to have a career change.

Cheers, Rusty, I sincerely look forward to your reply in which you will probably dig yourself into a...

We came across this motel when our Air BnB rental turned out to be a bust. The ladies at the office were incredibly kind and accommodating. When we arrived, we were in a thick, heavy fog, but you could hear the ocean nearby, which was lovely. An older building and the rooms are fairly plain but incredibly clean and spacious. The check-in area has a small giftshop of locally made fares (soaps, candles, keychains, figurines, etc) as well as some of the most delicious fudge I've ever eaten We got the last pack of fudge, and the owner offered to stop on her way into work the next morning to restock so we could try other flavours, which was so nice of her! I was travelling with my grandmother who had spent 10+ hours in the car the day before and when I asked if I could rent an extra day so she could rest while I was at work the next day, the ladies at the desk offered me a reduced rate so she could rest well past the checkout time. By the morning, the fog cleared, the weather warmed up, and the views were simply breathtaking. Moments from the beach, a few minutes from light houses in either direction, and plenty of seating in the back and front of the motel area with bbqs available. The beds were SO comfy, and our room had windows on either side, making for a lovely cross breeze (no ac in the rooms, so bring a fan if you think you'll need one). Our room had a microwave, mini fridge, plates, bowls, and cutlery, which made our stay even better. While this isn't a fancy-dancy place, it was perfect for a rustic getaway.

Thank you to the wonderful team for having us and for making my grandma comfortable - she is still raving...

If you are a traveller who prefers small, friendly privately owned businesses to chain hotels that are all exactly the same, you're going to LOVE it here. We stayed in one of the motel rooms and while it wasn't "fancy", it was super comfortable with a million dollar view. The host Laura was wonderful - she made great suggestions for where to eat, talked about the local area, and provided so many nice little touches. The hotel is on one of the most amazing beaches in all of Nova Scotia so after dinner we walked for miles and at night we could hear the surf through our window. In the morning she made us DELICIOUS coffee and homemade pumpkin bread and there were also apples, cereal, and juice available. We also saw her go out of her way for other guests, and even non-guests. When it was pouring rain and two older people who were bicycling stopped in to ask for directions, she immediately offered them a cup of hot tea and a chance to dry off. You don't get that kind of service staying at the Ritz!!! We can't recommend this place enough. And while they don't have a restaurant for dinner on the premises, there are two AMAZING restaurants just about 10 minutes away in Metaghen. We went to the Seashore Restaurant and also give it a five star rating - with one word of caution. If you're ordering the seafood platter, order the "half platter" as it had enough fish, scallops, and clams to make my husband wonder if he could finish it - and he can eat a LOT of seafood!!! If you want quiet relaxation and a chance to really experience Nova Scotia hospitality, you'll...
