I picked this campground specifically for its location to the area we wanted to visit (rockwood conservation) and the fact that its cheaper to rent a cabin (if the weather is nice enough) then it is to stay at a hotel these days. (Camping food, and fires are more exciting as well). We had a great experience at another campground with these same cabins just a few weeks ago so i knew we would be happy staying in one again, it was super cute and the bed was comfy it had plenty of hydro plugs, a very small hotel fridge, a charcoal bbq with some utensils and a cute patio set inside, we did have a few bugs make themselves at home but that typical for camping, we enjoyed our campfire but like other reviews say its so close to the 401 the traffic is loud and constant, luckily with the help of our fan we couldnt hear it inside the cabin. It was off season so the pool was closed, the playground equipment looked a bit outdated maybe a bit ricketty, and the old mining station that is on the park map no longer runs (a previous KOA activity for kids). At the back of the park are most if the cabins and all of the bigger ones, its cute like a little village in that area!! The bathrooms were clean and kept up besides a weird pipe in the ladies bathroom looked to have a leak or at least a moist floor around the pipe not sure what that was about, the showers were clean and lovely to use, however my hairdryer did not work in the outlets so i just used the cabin hydro instead. There is a industrial dishwashing sink outside the bathrooms (i used) and there is a laundry facility ( i did not use). Overall the campground was perfect for my spouce and i's trip. The lady that runs the place was friendly and always replied to my emails, later texting me (instructions) we needed wood and she delivered it to our site 3 bags for 25$, and provided us with a fire starter ;) Later i asked her for a campground sticker of some sort and she was able to provide a small logo for my travel book!! Thank you for...
Read moreOne of the WORST campground in our 23+ years RVing and 30 years of camping. We were told by the very unprofessional manager/owner that they cater to seasonal campers. Why then do they advertise for overnight campers? We stayed here 5 nights.
For $77/ night at this FORMER KOA, one gets very bad unreliable wifi when it works, no sewer cap to secure your sewer hose keeping gasses from escaping and the hose on, not permitted to use laundry room (seasonal use only), garbage in fire pit (cleaned out upon request) and the lovely soothing noise of the busy 401 just meters. The playground needs repair as a couple of the climbing apparatus has rotted and is coming apart.
Sites are crowded, junk at most seasonal sites and pool appears to be is in bad condition and is not even open, although they say it will be July 1st. Office/store only open Monday to Friday 9-4. So you are pretty much on your own but there is a number available for emergency.
If travelling through Guelph, Milton Ontario area we advise to NOT STAY HERE! I am a positive person, always giving places and people the benefit of doubt because I don’t know their story, but, here, the evidence is clear what kind of place this is. It is over priced for the amenities provided and condition of the campground.
I will say that the bathrooms are clean and the grass was cut. The manager did come around finally to put in the sewer cap. If the manger or owner sees this review, at least allow longer term overnighters like we were to use laundry room for specific hours and perhaps fix this issues mentioned that are in your control. This campground needs work and the websites should be more clear...
Read moreThe week of July 25-27th, I stayed with my family and we were in cabin C2. This was my first time camping, and potentially my last. I enjoyed the time spent with family, but the mosquitos and black flies were brutal and my legs have been attacked, completely. There were many bugs in the cabin and the mattress covers were ripped and evidently cheap. The rooms had an extremely thick, musty smell and it was not a comfortable sleep considering the 401 was right behind the cabin. After leaving, my dad and I were left with these terrible marks and bruises that are currently still on our legs and we have been informed by a doctor that these bites were from BED BUGS!! I don't even feel comfortable wearing shorts because of how terrible my legs look....
