False Advertising – Not as Described
Our experience at this motel was far from what was advertised. The room was in poor condition—furniture was old and worn out, and the walls showed clear signs of neglect. The provided bed sheets looked overused and felt unclean. The washroom was especially unacceptable: toilet stains hadn’t been cleaned, and the entire space felt dirty.
Unsafe and Unhygienic Washroom
A serious issue is the washroom sink, which has no drain strainer. This poses a risk of losing small items like jewelry down the drain or clogging it completely. Overall, the washroom was unhygienic and poorly maintained.
No Soundproofing in Rooms
Noise insulation in the rooms is nonexistent. Conversations, footsteps, and other sounds from neighboring rooms come through loudly—often sounding even louder than they actually are. It's difficult to rest or relax with constant noise from other guests.
Cramped, Dirty, and Poorly Equipped Kitchen
The common kitchen was another major letdown. It was dirty and poorly equipped, with only one microwave and a small electric oven whose cooktop knobs didn’t function properly—your only options were “Off” or “Maximum.” The kitchen is too small for more than one person to use at a time, which causes long waits if someone is washing dishes or cooking. The general condition and cleanliness of the kitchen were unacceptable.
Unmaintained Outdoor Area*
The backyard was unkempt and not maintained. There was an old slide for kids that didn’t appear safe, and the outdoor furniture looked like it was picked up from donations—worn out and uncomfortable, not something you’d expect from a place charging for accommodation.
*Unhelpful and Unwelcoming Owner
What made the experience even worse was the owner’s attitude. She was dismissive and unhelpful. Most reasonable requests were met with a flat “no.” She even told us that she doesn't like “big families or groups,” which seemed like an excuse to avoid maintaining basic amenities like fixing the oven or providing a dish rack. Her lack of concern for guest comfort and safety was disappointing.
The only redeeming quality of this motel is its proximity to popular tourist areas. Unfortunately, it seems the owner relies entirely on this and neglects every other aspect of guest service, hygiene, and...
Read moreWe’ve had one of the WORST accommodation experiences especially when dealing with the owner Julie. Everything went well initially, until we demanded a pet cleaning fee refund when we checked-out after one night stay for our 3-night booking, due to the poor hotel condition. The owner Julie understands zero customer service and attempted to argue that our pet has stayed past 11am which they will charge a full one day pet fee, not to mention that we didn’t even bother with the 2-night costs that we’ve eaten up. FYI, most hotels charge a per-stay pet fee only.
What also shocked us was that, through our conversation with the owner, she mentioned that she has put her ears against our doors at midnight to check up on us to see if we were asleep (which we were because she said she could hear us snoring). How CREEPY was that!
The motel itself was also extremely old with all kinds of noises coming from everywhere. Bathroom ventilation was broken, thermostat was broken, heating elements did not heat up warm enough in Quebec winter, unpleasant smell from bed sheets, homeless people staying over night in a van right in the parking lot in front of your window……use your imagination!
To all potential travellers, avoid this motel at all costs if you can. It may seem good for your pocket but you are really not getting what you paid for. There are plenty valuable alternatives nearby, and trust me those are $$ well spent and will not disappoint you.
To Julie, the motel owner, if this is the kind of customer service/experience that you think is worthy for your little dated budget motel; for us, this review is well-worth it…our time, and...
Read moreNow the people that own the place seem very friendly, but they are either naive or just don't care about the general condition of the place. It is dated, falling apart in places. This place wouldn't pass a fire safety inspection if there is ever such a thing in Quebec Province. It is one big fire hazard waiting to happen. No fire doors, smoke alarms, emergency exit signs that are legit, muster points, questionable electrical fittings and so on..... ||It's a glorified shed with furniture in it. It must be absolutely freezing in here at winter time as its clear there is no insulation between the walls and the roof. So if you do come in winter, bring thermals and a thermos! I hope the photos give a general idea of the build quality (lack of).||It did for our 2 nights but couldn't wait to go to our next place to get a proper shower as the shower here was a dribble and luke warm water. ||Don't bother with breakfast here, go to Tim Horton's or so down the road. ||The bed was comfy enough so can't complain about that. ||Security.... huge security risk with flimsy doors and a shared balcony. Anyone could break in if they wanted to very easily and steal your valuables, so if staying here for a few days, take any passports, expensive items with you for that day. ||For the price paid circa $230/night feel we were ripped off for what we got. ||Watch out for the hobo in the camper van across the car park. He's been there a while...||Don't...
