My family has been going to Jasper each year for over a decade & we have always admired the rustic beauty of the Alpine Village - it just looks so inviting and wonderful and in it's our favorite vacation location in the world. Our family tradition is to celebrate milestone birthdays with epic trips involving parents/siblings/our children (12 people total, all adults). Past trips have included Galapagos Island and Baja California Sur, so these are not "minor" events for us. I am turning 50 years old in 2019, so now it was my turn to select a location, and it was between Paris, France or the Jasper area (yes, we love Jasper that much). The deciding factor for me was the idea that we could rent a few cabins (probably 4 total) at the Alpine Village for the 12 of us so we could all enjoy this beautiful place together. I was so excited to get more information, so yesterday I dropped in at the front desk to pick up a pamphlet. I am so very disappointed in the way the woman at the desk spoke to me. She was discouraging me from the very start, repeating over and over again that they have "special guests" that come every year. I asked her when reservations open for next year so we could reserve as early as possible and she once again repeated the statement about the "special guests". I then started to realize that she did not want me and my family to stay there so I basically asked her point blank if that is what she was getting at. She said "yes" with a fake smile and then went on to say that one large party occupying multiple cabins would cause things to be "misplaced" or moved from one cabin to another, etc. She did say that if my husband and I just wanted to stay there by ourselves and have everyone else stay 'somewhere else' that would be fine. My family is not rude or full of miscreants - we are decent, kind/respectful of others and are not loud partiers. For goodness sakes, most the time we are in bed and asleep by 10 pm! I was definitely not expecting to be treated so rudely and condescendingly. You would think a business would encourage prospective customers, not make them feel unimportant and judged compared to their "special" guests. Every time we drive by the Alpine Village over the past twelve years I would remark how much I loved it and daydream about staying there in the future, but now this is the new memory I'm going to have. So very...
Read moreWe stayed at Alpine Village for 4 nights and it was an incredible stay! We stayed in #30 which was right at the end of the property. You had to park your car in the parking lot and walk down the path to the cabin. They have carts there to help with luggage. Most of the cabins have a car spot but we loved the privacy and the wildlife that we saw. The cabin itself was beautiful! We stayed in the Whistler One Bedroom and we were 2 adults and 1 child. It was perfect! King bed and then a sofa bed, not that comfortable but hey what sofa bed is. The bathroom was amazing and the shower was the best! Ample towels and toiletries. The kitchen was well equipped however it would have been nice to have had larger drinking glasses but thats a minor detail to how great it was! The first day after checkin we encounter a grizzly bear eating grass near the woodpile. It was incredible and we were at a loss for words. What an experience that was. Then we missed him the next night but the following night he came walking down the path and right by our cabin. The stopped in the back of our cabin and layed down for a bit then ran off. WOW! We also had Elk walking by our last day there, 4 in total. The staff were awesome! Really enjoyed talking to the Housekeeping ladies, they were so sweet and loved hearing where they were from. Alpine Village Resort is by far the best cabin experience I have ever stayed at! Highly recommend this place. It sits across from the Athabasca River where they have chairs you can sit and enjoy the scenery. The property is immaculate and is definitely extremely well maintained. Very close to the town of Jasper and we took a River rafting boat ride and also a tour and both picked us up right in front of the resort. We loved our stay and if we ever come back to Jasper we know where we will be staying! It was a fantastic 4...
Read moreChecked in an hour early for our 3 night stay and the receptionist was so helpful in giving us tips around the town. She told us about another route in and out of Jasper town center that would avoid the railway and it saved us a lot time not waiting for the train to pass.
We got our cabin with a designated parking spot. The room was spacious enough for 2 people. There’s a seating area for lounging and a small area to prepare food (mini fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave). There was also ample storage for clothes, shoes and a small desk off make up. The king sized bed was huge and clean. We did notice there were not a lot of outlets so charging your phones by the bedside might be a problem. The wifi was also very bad but they did warn us about that.
We got housekeeping every morning before we left and was greeted with a clean room, made bed and clean towels and soap refills every time. They also provide ice at the front office, although the ice is exposed in a bin, so we weren’t sure how clean the ice would be to drink. There’s also a hot tub near the front office with change rooms and towels for your convenience.
Around the area were a lot of lawn chairs and bikes and nice area to sit and relax around the river side.
This place was affordable and is a great location, just 5 minutes from Jasper town center and right along the Icefield Parkway. Would recommend this stay for anytime visiting. We would definitely come back next...
