After looking online for quite some time for a spot to stay in or around Jasper, my wife found this spot. Good ratings and reviews, and the photos online made it look pretty cozy. The area is amazing, and we were stoked to get out for some hikes along the river and maybe spot some wildlife. We booked only 1 night as we were heading to Banff the next day.
The good.
Funky and cool old school log built cabins. Super retro and remind me of places I have seen from 1960's adds or travel shows Staff were very helpful and super nice checking in The location is amazing and the surrounding scenery is stunning (pics are from the river in front of the resort) Very close to Jasper town center, only a short drive away Very quiet (with the exception of the heater) The restaurant was great, super tasty meals and nice staff Lots of families and kids, big groups there together
The bad.
Our room was very dirty. Like really bad. Cobwebs everywhere, super dusty Our room also smelled like 60 year old cigarette smoke... it was rank. Terrible when coming in from the fresh mountain air Heater in our room was super noisy
I'm no snob or pampered by any means... but this was probably the dirtiest place I have ever paid to stay in. We let the staff know when checking out, and they were kind, apologized and said they would look into it right away.
Hope the next people in that room have a better experience.
I would not recommend based on our experience with our room. Outside of that, it was pretty nice spot. Others seem to have had a much better experience, so it may just be that room. Hopefully it has had a full...
Read moreThe location is great! The Athabasca River runs right behind the hotel, with easy access down to the river and trails. We were greatly disappointed with our room. We paid quite a bit for 2 nights in a junior suite and most of the basic essentials were broken or not functioning eg. heater was not working, tv remote broken...stuck on one channel, coffee maker broken and other items not working as well. We were told maintenance would come by shortly but they never showed up and we lost out on a whole afternoon waiting for them. The receptionist tried to help, brought us a portable heater and replaced the coffee maker with a working one but couldn't fix the TV remote after many attempts, she then became very annoyed and rude to us and just down right ignored trying to resolve the issues and disappeared. After contacting upper management, they apologetically refunded us one of our nights. It could have been the perfect weekend there had not everything gone wrong with our room. Woke up in the mornings to elk grazing on the grass right outside our window and it's quite romantical walking down by the river. They're restaurant is excellent and the staff at the restaurant is friendly and welcoming. This was the first and hopefully last time ever having an experience such as this. Basic appliances and things should be checked before...
Read moreWe tried to stay at the Jasper House Bungalows Sept 9th for 1 night after driving in from Vancouver. Valmont & Hinton we’re almost fully booked. Jasper townsite was on a high alert for the fire close by, all the downtown was dark and without power. Jasper was sold out with a few exceptions. Most hotels where helping each other out making exceptions on minimum stays being as flexible as possible to accommodate tourists. JASPER HOUSE WAS NOT AT ALL HELPFUL, EVEN TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE NEEDING A PLACE TO STAY FOR 1 NIGHT BY SUGGESTING TO PAY FOR A 2 NIGHT STAY WHILE ONLY STAYING FOR 1, AT A RATE OF OVER $350.00 A NIGHT. The community of Jasper was pulling together to help out tourists while Jasper House Bungalows was taking advantage of the situation. We ended up driving to Hinton which was also almost all sold out, but friendly and helpful in finding a room from 1 hotel to another also helping out the Jaspers tourists. Please don’t stay there and support poor behaviour. Stay at a businesses (hotel) which helps out and promotes their (Jasper) community in a...
