Perhaps expectations were too high heading in. This is the best reviewed hotel in Moncton, lots of positive comments. I was very underwhelmed.
Had a single night booked. Flight was late. As a place that self promotes as an airport hotel with shuttle service I'd expect this is a common occurrence. Didnt need transportation as I had a rental car, but we were greeted by a clearly unhappy gentleman in pajamas. He seemed quite put out by our late arrival, more so by the fact we had stopped to get a snack at Tim Hortons en route and were bold enough to bring it with.
Not sure I should need to explain that when one's flight is delayed, one may have spent hours between meals and need a quick bite.
Checked in quick at the breakfast bar and shown our room, we were assaulted with the overpowering smell of mothballs and still, dank air. Fired up the tiny, noisy, window AC unit which slowly brought the air temp to something manageable.
Was in bed and asleep pretty quick. Bed was at best adequate; an older mattress that was uneven and had some real sag to it. The room / place was quiet (other than the sad overtaxed A/C) and had been reasonably well cleaned, but looked like old aunt Maggie's attic was raided for the decor.
I know many reviews refer to it as quaint and charming, I found the decor a mishmash of dated, worn, stale. Badly patched wall damage, a cassette playing boombox, plywood panelling with tape on it DO NOT make for a "four star resort experience". Several printed stickers on the walls with wifi passwords and admonitions not to touch the blinds, take off your shoes (?!?!??). I've stayed at Motel-6 properties that were better updated and more inviting. The grounds were nice, and the smell of the wild rose bushes was delightful.
The line between quaint and shabby may be fine, our room was flat out shabby and in desperate need of a refresh. Not a case of unclean, a case of needing to redecorate and replace, properly patch and paint.
Breakfast showed potential but midway through the appointed time slot several items were already out and not restocked. We felt rushed by the attendant, then were surprised by a knock on our door 10 minutes later asking if we were ready to leave. A full hour before checkout.
Between less than welcoming staff, a room that was quite underwhelming, and the set-up of glowing reviews we were disappointed. I'd suggest for similar $$ the Canvas by Hilton or Hyatt Place are better options if you're...
Read moreWhile working late on a Friday night I had to make a stop over in Moncton NB. I used hotwire as my preferred location was all booked up. Upon paying for my place at the wild rose inn I made my way on over. At about 930 I arrived at the wild rose property, exhausted I parked my car and walked on up to a dimly lit first door, the door was locked and the lights were off, I looked at the other door to my right which had a similar appearance. Frustrated I made my way back to my car and left for a familiar chain, where I had a pleasant stay.
In the morning I called Hotwire and spent about 2 hours attempting to resolve this charge on my credit card. Hotwire informed me the company has charged a no-show fee. So I gave their Manager a call, Dennis is his name. Dennis was rude from the get go, blatantly called me a liar said I never came and there is no way not to notice the entrance, insulting me over and over again.
I have never seen such a poor representation of a company, working in management for large retail chains I've seen all sorts of things where we would concede to ensure the company was well represented and the customer felt taken care of, even when we were in the wrong. Dennis did no sort, blamed me told me 'Money doesn't matter to them' this was a 'principle to them'.
There is all sorts of things I could have done differently, however all I wanted was a refund for something I never was able to enjoy, this company has completely taken me for the full amount and believes they deserve it.
I would never stay at this place if my life depended on it, with Dennis at the helm god knows what else doesn't get done at this hotel. Clearly MONEY is the only concern and customers do not matter.
Please for the sake of money lost by me and I'm assuming many do not ever stay at this so called "inn" you will be treated like you're nothing and the customer is always wrong here.
Good luck Dennis and your business, I really hope this post impacts you and your business as you've impacted me. What a shame

Read moreMy wife and I were celebrating our 15-year anniversary for a couple of nights to relax sans kids, enjoy the Moncton restaurants, and plan our coming year. It was a sort of private goal-setting retreat, and it turns out that Wild Rose Inn is the perfect place for it.
Checking in, we were welcomed enthusiastically and shown to our honeymoon suite by our friendly hosts. The room was spacious and meticulously clean. The king-size bed was actually comfortable - a pleasant surprise as most hotel mattresses mean my wife doesn't get any sleep. We pulled the wingback chairs in front of the cozy gas fireplace and journaled and talked comfortably for hours, and the massive jacuzzi tub in the room was the perfect way to end each day - complete with terrycloth bathrobes. Breakfast was a simple buffet of fruit, coffee, juices, yogurt, and croissants, with bacon and eggs made to order. On our last day, we didn't want to leave. We squeezed in every minute we could get, curled up in our chairs by the fire until it was time to check out. We got very attached to our peaceful room as the snow fell outside. The only slight drawback to the whole wonderful stay was a noisy bar fridge that we simply unplugged at night. I have no doubt that if we'd alerted our hosts to the inconvenience they would have switched it out happily.
Where else can you get a fireplace and jacuzzi in your room with a huge comfortable bed, plus breakfast? I searched high and low online and I'm so glad I found Wild Rose Inn. It's the perfect place for a couple getaway, and we plan to make two nights at Wild Rose Inn our annual January tradition due to the cleanliness of the room, convenient and magnificent amenities, and friendliness of our hosts. I recommend this place highly! Thanks for a great stay, we already can't wait...
