We had just returned from Ridgeback Lodge from what I can only explain as the best Honeymoon I think anyone would ever have. The experience from start to finish was better than I could have imagined. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and quite funny as well. We could not believe our eyes when we first parked in front of our Dream Dome. We were greeted by a rustic log fence and wooden gate which provided ample privacy. Upon entering we could see everything the Dome had to offer. On the ground were 1000s of soft wooden chips which I later learned had more of a purpose than just looks, a picnic table with umbrella, a fully stocked woodshed with chairs and a bbq hidden inside as well, our wood fired hot tub, and of course our Dome. Once inside we saw our kitchenette with sink, storage, induction hotplate, and fridge. Inside the cupboard we had all our utensils, pots, pans, and more. Right around the corner we had a small seating area and our bed. The bed was a queen sized memory foam slab on top of a slat based low profile bed, and was framed directly in the center of the beautiful Dome window and underneath the ceiling fan which helped circulate the fresh air coming in from the screen door. Lastly, behind both the kitchenette and bed we had the washroom, which had a full sized shower, sink, and toilet. The Dome has full plumbing and fresh hot and cold running water. There is NO Wi-Fi or TV in the Dome; however, there is a tablet with tutorial/instructional videos to help you with your stay, as well as a radio, some board games, and some reading material. It was so nice to feel truly disconnected from the outside world, yet still have the comforts of electricity and cooking essentials. The best part of the stay for us was the wood fire heated hot tub. The first heating takes about 2-3 hours; however, after that it would warm up within 20-30 minutes and would maintain heat VERY well. There were numerous times where we would have to dump our cooler filled with cold water into the tub to cool it down from 120+ degrees. There are also no outside lights. All you have is ambient light from the Dome, a lantern, and the stars. Due to the lack of light pollution, the moon and stars did a great job at lighting our way. We soon realized that the soft wood chips were GREAT for walking on without shoes or socks when traveling too and from the hot tub. Aside from the main Dome grounds, we had a private trail which lead to a beautiful pond fill with canoes, kayaks, and frogs! There is also both a groomed and ungroomed walking/hiking trail if you are feeling adventurous! There is a little gas station only 10 minutes away with drinks, snacks, fuel, and more if you need to run out and get something. We had spent 3 amazing nights here and did not see or hear anyone other than ourselves. After being together for 5 years before getting married and having this honeymoon, it was amazing to see how much more we had to learn about ourselves and our relationship. It was Ridgeback Lodge and it's amazing ability to disconnect us from everything else and really bring us together into a place that felt like it wa just US that made this possible. We quickly booked for the same time next year...
Read moreRidgeback Lodge is beyond expectations. We stayed in the Robin's Nest cabin and felt at home as soon as walking through the door. Rustic charm, cozy and CLEAN!! Not one spec of dust! The kitchen/living area is open concept and tastefully situated. Beautiful furniture and so very comfortable. Wood stove that we did not get to use as we were there in July but the A/C came in handy!! No television but there are cards, crib board, puzzles, games and books provided to fill the time. The bedroom is cozy with a king size bed made with beautiful linens and a very generous bathroom with a nice walk in shower!! Chairs on the porch to enjoy your coffee/beer while getting in touch with nature. The wood heated hot tub is a great touch to relax in the evening. My favorite spot on the property is the pond. Small beach to relax and get some sun while watching the resident ducks and listening on the many frogs that Iive in the pond. There's a canoe available as well as a few kayaks; you can also swim to the raft or just swim around the pond. Large size connect 4 game as well as Jenga and horseshoes to keep you busy. There is also a walking trail and if you're an avid hiker, there is a trail that is not maintained...make sure you have your hiking boots!! We have already booked our summer vacation week for 2022 and we will be booking again in the fall or winter for a couple of nights....our new getaway spot. We just LOVE it. It is adults only and no pets allowed but wow, what...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for an early spring getaway. We were in the Robin’s Nest cabin and we truly could not have been happier. We arrived in the evening after a wonderful drive and friendly greeting from our hosts. We drove up to our cabin and unpacked and finally took in the scenery. The hot tub which we added into our stay was incredible and well worth it. The barbecue was my husband’s new best friend for the entirety of our stay and he cooked almost every meal on it. He also tended to the fire during the days and nights. It was a great experience for the both of us as people who love the outdoors, and a couple who wanted de-stress. Every detail that was put into the making and decorating of the cabin did not go unnoticed (the guest log, fresh pressed linens, an oscillating fan, board games, and most of all, the path of rose petals that we added onto our stay!) We could not stop talking about how incredible the whole trip was and since we have returned to normal city life, we wish we were back cuddling in front of the warm fire. We could not recommend this place enough. We will tell everyone we know to stay at Ridgeback Lodge and explore around the Kingston peninsula. We ended up exploring trying to find a grocery store and went on a ferry. It was not what we had expected for the morning, but it was wonderful. We hope to come back to the very same cabin again this year and enjoy Ridgeback Lodge in the summertime. If you are considering staying...
