We stumbled across Bushy House by accident as we needed a last minute lodging prior to traveling on to Toronto. And what a find it is!!! The owners, an artist and architect have created two homey, lovingly well-stocked rooms. Breakfast comes with the room rate..but more about that later.||||Three of us shared the Lewis suite, a beautifully appointed bedroom and sitting room complete with small kitchenette, dining table and a workable fireplace to chase away the evening's chill. There is a small screened in porch accessed from the living room.||||I'm am not a lover of sofa beds; however the sofa pulled out into a very comfy bed..I was surprised, to say the least. Little decorative details are everywhere you look....water and juice stocked refrigerator; shower shoes and thick, fluffy towels in the bath that is complete with a clawfoot tub/shower combo. But watch out...the tall step into the tub/shower is not for the faint of heart.||||I promised I'd talk about the breakfast and what a true delight in every way. I awoke to the most delicious baking smells and at 9am, Jodie knocked on our door with a large wicker basket that held yogurt parfaits, organic coffee in a carafe, jams/jellies/honey and freshly squeezed orange juice. After we set the table and enjoyed the coffee, Jodie brought down three large wedges of frittata per person along with a side of bacon. I insisted she take a piece of my frittata back to enjoy with her coffee..no way could I eat all that and didn't want it wasted! We lingered, taking our time enjoying every last bit.||Too bad the pictures aren't scratch and sniff!||||We were also given a tour of the outside gardens, which will be so lovely once late spring and summer arrive with all the bulbs blooming. The owners also purchased and renovated another home directly behind their BnB and we also toured that as well..Bracken House easily fits 8 guests for a family stay.||||Stay here..you will not be disappointed..from the farm fresh eggs that Jodie collects for breakfast and also sells, to the well appointed rooms and the over-the-top...
Read moreIt was our first visit but definitely not our last. We were welcomed with a small bottle of wine in the refrigerator and a note wishing me a Happy Birthday. When we asked about cab companies in the area, our hostess offered to drop us at the winery so we would only need a ride back. Our breakfast was amazing, farm eggs, smoked bacon, freshly baked scones with home made preserves, freshly squeeze orange juice and coffee. The cost of our 2 gourmet breakfasts made the cost of the room a real bargain...especially at Niagara on the Lake. On our way out the door we received cookies hot out of the oven for the trip home. The room likewise was filled with warm country charm and our own kitchenette and bath. The unexpected bonus was the private patio overlooking the wooded backyard with its beautiful flowers and not a house in sight. You would never think you were 5 minutes away from the busy downtown. What a wonderful retreat. We left refreshed and excited thinking about the long list of friends and family we were eager to bring back here. Can't...
Read moreDo not look any further. Jodie and her family are the consummate hosts. They were so pleasant and eager to help with directions, recommendations and accommodating of any and all of our requests. ||Their Bed and Breakfast is truly beautiful. The bedroom (Lewis) was large, bigger than most one bedroom apartments here in Toronto, and the bed was very comfortable. A large private sitting room attached had a full size sofa and comfortable chair, a kitchenette and a pretty private bath with a super comfortable claw and ball bathtub to relax in. Finally our own screened in porch with a view of the gardens and woods behind. The condition of the rooms and furniture was pristine as though were were their first ever guests.||Breakfast? Don't even get us started. Everything home baked and home squeezed. Even the eggs came from their own chickens which were so much fun to watch. We are big eaters and and didn't need lunch that day. ||This is the kind of B and B that you plan your trip around. We will be...
