We stayed in "hobbytla"
Pros Super quiet & peaceful. Houses are unique and fun. Cabins are well built. Warm at night. Not drafty at all. Rates are reasonable. Well stocked kitchen. Even has a French press! Pots and pans in good shape. Curtains over beds help you sleep in. Staff are awesome. Plenty of water provided for 2. (30L?) Maybe you get more if you book as a family?
Mehs: Long walk in with your stuff. Choose carefully what you bring. Beds are firm, pillows simple but good. Might want to bring a dish washing sponge, the one there was a bit funky. One drawer had a knob that came off, but we fixed it. Door was a hard to close, until you got the hang of it. A few times we let bugs in by accident. Switch for overhead lights isn't obvious. It's near the beds.
Cons: Bathroom is a "no water" sawdust style bathroom. There's a cup to put sawdust into the toilet after #1 or #2... It's the first thing people touch after... (Ew. bring some purell maybe to clean it?) Would have been at least nice to have a urinal or a "wet" toilet for pee, seeing as there is a grey water system. (This may be less of a con if it weren't a surprise when we got there. We were assuming it was some kind of camping toilet. No lights outside the hobbyt house. We smoked our heads (so did the neighbor from the fantasy cabin) on a low beam near the entrance door. This is a safety hazard. You don't need much light, just a little bit under the low hanging areas. Would really add to the ambiance! (And safety) :-)
I'll add a ton of more awesome pictures later.
All in all, great...
Read moreWe just spent 3 perfectly magical nights in the Hobbit House. We were so impressed by the care, thought, imagination and attention to detail that went into every aspect of the house and the property. From the moment we arrived we were enchanted by the trails with such whimsical touches like faces on the trees, a bridge for elves and a path for adventurers! We then fell completely head over heels in love with our cosy, cheerful little cabin. Even though we knew there were other cabins and people nearby, the property is so well laid out that each accommodation has its privacy and it feels like you have the woods completely to yourself (making it easy to imagine oneself a fairy tale character). We spent two idyllic days cooking over an open fire (each cabin has its' own fire pit and the owners supply the firewood at a reasonable price of $5), taking peaceful walks and swimming when it was sunny and playing board games and listening to the pitter patter of drops on our roof when it rained. The owners strike just the right balance of taking care of guest needs (supplying extra water, carts for hauling equipment, firewood etc) while also giving them the space to feel self-sufficient and away from it all. ||||We just got back and we're already planning our next stay (next time, Treehouse!). We hope to make a stay at Toits Du Monde a yearly...
