I struggled with how to review this campground... We were looking forward to trying a new place to camp. Not knowing how the check in process goes and not seeing anywhere to park, I pulled up the lane and jumped out to check in. I guess someone pulled in behind me and was quite upset I didn't leave him enough room to get around. First interaction at the campground was someone calling me names. Not a welcoming start.
The person that checked me in, Laura, was really nice and apologized for other person.
Fast forward a couple hours and the couple we were spending the weekend with in the site beside us show up. We decide to back their trailer in so we can be awning to awning expecting a lot of rain and a person named Bob came over quite irate about this saying we were doing everything wrong and we were going to mess up their septic system (not exactly sure how?). I guess Bob does some work for the campground and was upset we weren't going to do things his way. We assured him we were going to use the proper hook ups and assured him this isn't our first time and we weren't there to cause any issues. He calmed down and we had a quiet night.
The next morning I was pulling into the campground and as I was parking I received a phone call that someone complained I was speeding through the campground. I assured the person I was doing the posted 15 KM/H speed limit but I would keep her suggestion to watch my speed in mind. We're less than 24 hours in and we've now had three negative interactions.
After all this, there are people there that are nice, including my neighbor who offered me his level when I was trying to get my RV levelled up.
So, front desk person Laura gets 5 starts, the campground is nice, the sites are big and well treed but some of the seasonal residents bring this campground down to the point we're not sure we'll be back or recommend it to anyone else. 2.5 stars.
3 items of note. The overnight sites are close to the 401. It is constant noise. If you're camping in the fall, the pine trees drop heavy amounts of sap and needles. We were going home to winterize. It was a lot of work to clean up. Site 30 is not a pull through site unless you plan to use site 29 to pull out. Backing out is required for a...
Read moreIt was a nice campground and the owner was friendly. But the full time RVs in this park need to be more friendly. I just came from a 4 month stay in the US and I stayed to many RV parks never had the unwelcoming experience that I encountered here . Like I said the full time people were not welcoming at all . I walked my dogs in the park and not one person said hello ! Also I was told about speeding twice and I wasn’t speeding ! First time I was doing the speed limit which is 15km. The second time I was doing 10 km and when I stop and told the persons that I was only doing 10 km he said to me will u need to get your speedometer checking because look at the dust you are stirring up . I drive a Camaro which is low to the ground and It was on a gravel road and it was 30 degrees out . Think that if the full time RVs don’t want dust on there RVs then prob they should put there money where there mouth is and do something the gravel road . When we left this morning in the RV our speed was 8km and there was nothing but a big cloud of dust behind us . Like I said the owners are friendly and helpful....like the last night I was there I went up for wood earlier but she was out . When I went back it was late but she did get some wood delivered to my site . Just think that when you are camping to should be able to enjoy the full experience and I didn’t at this park . I read in earlier review that this Park has a issue with younger people . Don’t consider myself in the younger group but when they seem the Camaro and a HD motorcycle in tow they prob just form their own opinion. In my books that is total wrong ! I don’t know but all I do know that I didn’t feel comfortable in this park . And to add it wasn’t cheap 65.00 a night for 30 amp , 401 is right next to the park so traffic all day and night . Park was clean and the grounds were pretty . Hope this helps someone to make a decision on booking...
Read moreWhistle bare is the kind of park u visit and NEVER want to leave. I have been here for a month now and i just love it. I feel like i get the best of both worlds as a seasonal camper. During the week its very quiet and relaxing, on the weekends its busy and they have lots of activities. I am soo looking forward to Kareoke and bingo!!!! The people here are very friendly. The grounds are very well kept. Lots of space for nature walks. It is situated in an area where i am five minutes from kitchener, or cambridge, so i can choose where i want to shop. The owner is very down to earth, a complete sweetheart! I was pretty surprised when she took time out of her day and walked all thru the park to come to my door to check on my sick doggy. There are alot of overnighters and weekenders here, and wow have i met some wonderful ppl from all over!!! They are very strict on the speed limit, but i am greatful for this because its a comfort to know that our children and grandkids are in a safe environment and that the park is looking out for them!. TY Whistle bare for making this one of the best four...
