Super 8 by Wyndham Edmonton/West — Hotel in Northwest Industrial

The one star i have to rate this hotel with does not even deserve it. I stayed here over the long weekend with my boyfriend of over six years to finish up a long, traitorous 2 years of nursing school. I was here to write my last exam and I was not aware of the construction of this hotel. When we checked in,we were greeted with the awful over powering smell in the lobby, the construction of the hotel, and how grungy everything looked. So when we get to our room we notice the bathroom light does not work. It also looked like they threw a decorative comforter to distract you from the horrendous room. We both made the conscious choice that staying at a hotel where there is construction is not the best fit for a well rested sleep needed to write a $500 important exam. We politely asked to withdraw our hotel rental and did not make a complaint until they requested the chamber maid manager to "investigate" our room which we were only standing in for a total of 10 minutes, then once they said we had used the bed (the blanket was tossed to check for any stains or hairs) 3 managers of the front desk decided to come in to also investigate, they also made a comment to my boyfriend how we cannot purchase a room for "sex" and then just leave. (Due to the blanket being checked since nothing in the hotel looked nice) I am beyond furious, and too top it off, I never got an apology from the front end manager, AND I had to pay a 50.00 fee to cancel my room reservations even after being verbally attacked by the staff!! I paid the 50.00 fee afterwards because I wanted to get out of the hotel and not deal with the incredibly rude staff. After I called to complain to the owner/manager and I never got an apology from the person who insinuated horrible things about my character which are VERY FALSE, and I never got offered anything compensating for my horrible experience (my 50.00 payment for a clean room) WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Not a bad price or accommodations. Clean and spacious. Parking was well laid out and ample. Conveniently located. The staff were courteous.

However, the television that was provided for the two (2) queen sized room was a 16" or 17" and we had to squint from across the room or sit at the ends of the bed to watch lol.

Also, coffee maker had to unplugged to use microwave (ever hear of an extension cord/outlet expander etc.?).

There was no soap shampoo or conditioner provided in the bathroom and half a roll of toilet paper. (there was a half used bottle of shampoo, conditioner and old bar of soap, towels under sink left there though...ewww no thank you especially with Covid-19 what was housekeeping thinking OMG!). We received one parking pass for 2 cars. We received 2 individual device specific codes for the free wi-fi although we rented 2 rooms both with 2 queen sized beds (4 people - 2 one time use device specific codes hmmm guess we were supposed to share device use lol).

Someone from the organization should really action these concerns as my family and I unanimously decided in the future to not utilize Super 8. We would rather pay a little more and have clean towels & toiletries, a decent sized TV appropriate for the room (it was comical how small TV was in comparison to the room) and not have to have a hernia while having to crawl under a table to switch outlets to make a coffee or to microwave take out food....

I really Like to stay at Super 8 Nw. Front desk is nice hey Kathy.. It's right near many Casinos, near west edmonton mall and the Yellow head highway just seconds away. There is a convenience store/ gas station, clothing store and a post office all in one big convince store!!! The convince store has a little bit of everything its like a "little supermarket", The clothing store has many construction clothing probably everthing you need even boots, gloves, hats, reflectors pants and many more ... O yeah there are showers available I'm not sure if u have to be a trucker to Pay and Use or any patrons are welcome... Super 8 Hotel and the store both have laundry facility . Super 8 hotel has a small gym. Super 8 is family friendly just not your four legged friend. Continental Breakfast is from 6:30AM To 9:30 AM. Included options: apples, banana yogurt, boiled eggs, toast white and whole-wheat, bagles , waffles, cream cheese,peanut butter, jam, butter, small muffins 3-4 options, oats, cereal, apple juice, orange juice, fruit juice, milk, coffee Hallways can use more vacuuming.
