Great spot for boondocking at the cost of a serviced site. Gotta say i visit 12 parks minimum per summer for the last 4 years and have never experienced a park like this one. They obviously have a power problem they are aware of as they give you a list of what appliances to run and not run in your trailer to avoid tripping park breakers. We were here for 4 nights and lost power 3 times a day wich is awesome in 30° weather and dinner time or lunch time or whenever. To top it off saterday night we had no water for hours wich is also awesome. When i called the office to inquire they say theyre working on it. I asked to speak to the owner as i would like some water delivered for fresh tank or maybe some reinbursement as i paid for a 30 amp site with water and thats not really what i got. After a second call to the office i was told the owner would get back to me so i left my number. Needless to say saterday and sunday came and went and no call or visit from the owner. I guess the owner is to busy to talk to a camper on site but as the reviews here reflect the owner has plenty of time to reply to every review with a thank you or to the bad reviews a generic were sorry and we value your opinion but they dont. They sure dont mind taking full payment from your card though. When the water did come back on it was black so we had to have it run a while before it got clean. glad i unhooked my trailer as they gave no warning and that running through the trailer lines would not have been good. Definately wont be back. Many many better parks out there for same money or less.
(edit) After seing a reply from the owner im not sure why your taking a jab at my wife as she never spoke to anyone that works at your park. Kind of a low way to try and defend yourself. As mentioned in my review i called the office twice and maybe staff didnt like what i said but i guess the truth hurts. I did not want to talk to the staff i wanted to talk to the owner but they made that impossible. I was told the owner would get back to me and i left my name my number and site number but as i expected i never heard from the owner. I guess the owner is too busy yet has time to reply to google reviews lmao. If the staff if unable to handle angry customers perhaps the owner could put on the adult pants and step up to the plate and deal with paying customers instead of hiding like a coward leaving the staff to deal with it. When the staff told me to cut them some slack i couldnt help but laugh as i lost power 3 times a day and feel i had already cut you plenty of slack. At least we can agree many many many better...
Read moreWe (2 adults 2 kids aged 4.5 & 7yrs) visited Rideau Acres for the first time this past weekend (Aug 19 - 21) it was our children's first ever camping trip and we were thrilled with the experience. We were tent camping on site T4 which was absolutely massive and offered a good level of privacy from other campers, this was our first pandemic era vacation and I was quite nervous that things would be too crowded but there were zero issues in that department. our one complaint about our specific campsite is that it was quite dirty with litter (cigarette butts, discarded citronella candles melted on to the picnic table, plastic cutlery laying around) but that's more of a reflection of inconsiderate previous campers than the park itself and we used it as an opportunity to teach our girls about courtesy to others. the on site pool was a huge hit for us as well as the variety of ducks, geese, turkeys and one silly rooster! the kids loved visiting the birds and squealed with delight when one particularly friendly duck accepted some cut up pieces of grape and sunflower seeds, right from their hands. the hiking trails to the scenic lookout were breath taking and when we reached the top of the cliff we were delighted to discover a turkey wandering around.
Our one complaint would be that some of the younger staff at the registration office didn't seem very knowledgeable about different amenities, we had to ask 3 different staff members where we could fill our water jug as nothing was indicated on the map and none of them seemed to have any idea (we finally found a fill station at the picnic pavilion)
All things considered we were extremely happy with our trip and we will most definitely return to Rideau Acres in Summer 2022. I would highly...
Read moreThis is a beautiful campground with easy access to Routes 401 and 15. The view of the lake is breathtaking. Two swans were swimming on the lake every morning. There's a nice little pond with ducks, geese, chickens, and Guinea hens, and peacocks roam the grounds. The store is well-stocked. There's a large clubhouse that they call "the hall". The large pool, with lifeguard, is behind the hall. There are, however, lots of problems here. The main dirt road has nasty speed bumps that sneak up on you because they are not marked. Once you get past the main road, the other dirt roads throughout the park are narrow and winding, and it was very difficult to maneuver our 36' Class C. The sites are level, but the sewer hookup is so high off the ground we couldn't raise the hose high enough for the sewerage to run through. We had to stand there holding the hose up to drain it every time we dumped. The water pressure is very low. The trash and recycle bins are always overflowing; the smell is horrible and it attracts skunks. You cannot have your mail delivered here; you have to go to the main post office in downtown Kingston for general delivery. The wifi, which is free, is only available in the store. The laundry costs $3 to wash and $1.50 to dry (if you use high heat; if you use perma press, they don't get dry and you have to put in more money). Besides all of that, the people are rude and act as if you're bothering them if you ask a question (such as "Can we get our mail delivered here?"). Did I mention the trains? You hear their whistles all day and all night. We don't intend ever to return to...
