We only live about an hour away from this site, but decided to have a little getaway to close out our camping season. We have driven by this place many times and liked the look of it from the road (the lake and gazebo on a little island always caught my attention) so thought we would reserve a couple of nights.||From the time the phone was answered to make the booking until we stopped to let them know we were leaving, the entire experience was not just smooth, it was also a delight. I will admit I wondered if the people running the show are always so happy and helpful as they were some of the nicest and most accommodating people I have interacted with in a long time. ||As for the site, we selected a space close to the washroom facility, which was really clean and well maintained. The shower temperature and pressure was ideal. It had the scent and appearance of being freshly painted. The site was well treed and quite level with a peek-a-boo view of the lake - and a very, very short walk to the lake with many places to site and enjoy the water and ducks along the banks if one so chooses to stroll around it. There were also a few well-maintained hiking trails ||The pool was warm (heated to 80 degrees) and very well maintained with ample seating for non-swimmers or people taking a break. In fact, the only negative I could detect in the entire experience (and hardly a negative at all) was the washroom/change facility for the pool was in a building not adjacent to the pool. But, it was close enough that it only took a minute or so to access from the pool gate. ||There are also wagon rides, but sadly we were not there at the right time. I assume they run them more often during the high season, when the kids are not in school. Speaking of kids, there were several playground facilities throughout the park. Although we camped in a trailer, there are also multiple cottages around the lake that look very well maintained as well.||To sum up, the camping space was nice, the bathrooms clean, the pool enjoyable, the lake beautiful and the people with whom we interacted to book, check in and depart were amazing - friendly, accommodating, hospitable and...
Read moreBefore making a reservation at this cottage, read reviews. They are pretty accurate. The main issue for us were horrible beds! People have been complaining about the quality of the beds in this cottage since 2008, well it's August 2023 and it hasn't changed. Why would they change anything to make the stay of their guests more enjoyable, if they still get their money without investing any in improving things...They just don’t care! The pillows were flat, the mattresses were terrible, we could feel every spring. It felt like we were sleeping on rocks!!! We paid for 3 nights in a 2-bedroom cottage, but left after 2 with a back pain. It basically ruined our vacation. We left more worn out than when we arrived.|There was no WiFi available, no shampoo or conditioning, no coffee or tea, no propane bbq. The water also tasted weird (we brought our own favourite tea and it had weird taste). We do give 2 stars for cleanliness and heated outdoor pool, which was nice, but we will not be back to this facility or recommend it...
Read moreWe have stayed at the cottages many times over the years. The hosts have thought of everything and work diligently to keep the property comfortable and properly maintained. We stayed for 8 nights and travelled around the area a bit each day. We thoroughly enjoyed just sitting on the balcony and watching the lake and ducks. There is a well stocked store on the property and we found the prices of items very reasonable. The hosts are always available to help if needed. We once again had an extremely enjoyable and relaxing time. Hope to return again next season. The cottages are cozy and comfortable. Everything you need is there, a fridge, stove, microwave, TV, dishes and hair dryer are all there. The Mountain Top Cottages are a perfect place for anyone of any age to come,...
