Good basic accommodation for the family with outstanding animal experiences for children and adults alike ! The Ferme 5 Etoiles offers you a pocket sized version of the best of Canadian wildlife with animals that would take weeks to see in the wild (if at all) neatly presented. Their ethics seem good with animals having been abandoned or unable to live in the wild and the standards of animal care seem high quality. Keepers and staff genuinely care about the animals and take genuine pleasure in sharing their stories with the kids. We stayed in one of the rooms on the farm (8) which was a small pine panelled room with a double bed for us and one for the kids. Some other rooms had bunk beds which saved a little space. The room was comfortable although warm in summer with no air conditioning. A modern TV and cable box are provided along with a fan to keep things a little cooler ! The micro kitchen was fully equipped with a hob, microwave, filter coffee machine, toaster, kettle and fridge with tiny freezer compartment. Rooms have an adjustable heating system with digital thermostat on the wall. Overall the room was comfortable and well appointed, clean and welcoming. Farm activities start at 8:30 with feeding the animals - all guests are invited to tag along as keepers tour the farm and close contact with a range of animals is assured. A cute litter of husky puppies were the highlight for us, your wildlife may vary according to season ! The Apprentice Farmer programme is fun for the kids taking 3 days to give them a behind the scenes tour of the farm and let them feed animals, collect eggs etc. Do make sure to start on the day you arrive as each level must be completed before the next is started and you will need 3 days. We didn’t eat at all at their restaurant opting to make our own food or eat at local restaurants but it looked inviting. Overall highly recommended - don’t miss the chance to visit the lovely bay at l’Anse-de-Roche just down the road as you could easily miss what is a stunning highlight of any tour to the this area. Read moreVery disappointed at how this company does their booking. We were suggested to book with them when we reserved our stay at Canopée-lits, so we clicked that option before finalizing the reservation. After several days of not hearing back, I emailed to find out how to go about booking a specific day for sea kayaking, and after several email exchanges (and weeks passing by), in which I had given the exact date I was interested in doing the activity, they finally said I would have to send my credit card information to hold a booking. Because they never told me that at the beginning, by the time they finally did, the date I wanted to book was already full. I also think it's a terrible idea to send credit card information by email. People should be told to call in to book when inquiring about the activity instead of having several email exchanges that lead to nothing. When we finally called, the person made a reservation for us the next day and all was good until I noticed the confirmation email had the wrong month selected. I called to let them know and they said it might just be a mistake that Google calendar automatically does, but then when I spoke to the second person she confirmed that the reservation was for the following month, and that the day we wanted to go was full and she couldn't do anything about it. This ruined our stay because it was the one activity we were really looking forward to do and unfortunately it was the end of our stay so we couldn't book another day. I would not recommend booking with this company as they are not reliable and unfortunately did not try to fix their mistake to keep clients and a...
Read moreSpent 4 nights there (September 17 through 21). There were three families in our group. 6 adults and 5 kids! The kids will be talking about the memories they made for years to come!! We were booked for animal visits with Vicki for the first three mornings. She was awesome. Her knowledge of the animals and her ability to deliver it in a way to keep the 6-8 year olds intrigued was amazing. She clearly loves her job and it came through in the experience she delivered to our big, annoying group!! We also bought the passport and did 4 activities. Whale watching and the Bear excursion on the Friday, and then riding Quads and Kayaking on the Saturday. While our guide for the whale watching was a little bit grumpy (it was pretty cold out), our guide for the other three activities was Anthony. Again, as a group with a pile of obnoxious kids, it would have been understandable if anyone helping us had shown some impatience. Not at all the case with Anthony. This guy was amazing with everyone! He made the three activities the absolute highlight of the trip. What a great guy. Always willing to help out or to crack a little joke. His English was perfect. We were very lucky to have had these experiences with both Vicki and Anthony. Each morning we woke uo we would walk the entire animal compound and say hello to our favs. We even got to hand feed a moose! Not many people can say that. We will definitely be back...all 11 of us! 5 stars for the...
