With the unprecedentedly superb autumn weather we decided to hop over to Salt Spring Island from Victoria for the weekend. We had been eyeing the Mineral Springs resort as a possible stay for some time now. We enjoyed the cute "chalet" and found it very comfortable. While it is true that they haven't been renovated in a while, we still found ours (#2) to be clean, comfortable, and we a had a lovely, relaxing time. The view from the living area and porch was fabulous--enhanced by the cloudless skies and 25 Celsius temperatures in mid-October! It is an extremely quiet location which was just what we needed. The small kitchen was well-stocked with glassware, pots, cooking implements, etc. The jetted tub with the mineral springs water was a delight. The spring water does contain a lot of minerals and so the tub did have some discolouration due to the mineral deposits but everything was clean and worked like a charm. We met the hosts and enjoyed talking to them both. A week later and autumn storms have started to roll in, so we are really glad that we went on this retreat when the time was right. As other reviewers have pointed out, this is not a luxury resort; but it is off the beaten track a little and a very...

First let me say that Melissa who does the day to day operations is wonderful. Quick to respond to our many questions and was able to problem solve when there was an issue with the design of one of the units (bedrooms on 2nd floor and bathroom on 1st floor for someone with mobility issues). The views are stunning and we had such a good time because we were able to accommodate the whole family and other members of the wedding party in one place. However the units are all in need of repair and some upgrading. The deck and step up to the 3 bedroom unit are borderline unsafe. It is clear that the ownership group has allowed the units to fall into disrepair and are not investing the necessary money to keep the buildings in good condition. From a visual it appears that one of the 10 units is unrentable because of the condition. The pots and pans are old and well used and the interior furniture very worn. The lay out of the 3 bedroom is ok for families but you have to walk thru one bedroom to get to the other rooms so not private. Also the one bedroom units were very hot and had poor air circulation. Having said this the beds were comfortable enough and the bath...

This was our 4th year coming coming to Mineral Springs Resort for our summer vacation. We found paradise when we found this place. Melissa is a gem! She almost singlehandedly cleans and prepares the units (Thanks, Patti, for your help cleaning and friendly assistance as well!), greets vacationers, and manages the entire grounds as well. Even though Melissa is busy managing this property, she is always available with answers to any questions or to help with any issues we have. She is a friendly face and we look forward to seeing her and Patti each time we visit.

We go to Mineral Springs twice a year (summer and winter) because it is such a different experience depending on the season--it is always perfection for us. It is romantic and so peaceful and beautiful. The surrounding locations, such as St. Mary Lake, really complete the package.

This is a 2-star resort, so if you are looking for a 4- to 5- star experience, you may need to adjust your expectations. To us, it is the absolute beauty and peace that make our stay such a perfect experience for us. We look forward to each trip! Thanks, Melissa, for another wonderful time at Mineral...

This resort needs so much updating and honestly should be closed. The location is beautiful and the caretaker is a lovely person, who does her best. However the buildings are aging (and some visibly from the outside) and are not up to code. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin with a staircase that our toddler, or even an adult could have fallen right through. There is a building upon entrance that had a huge fire 3 years ago and nothing has been done. There are old bikes and an abandoned car, and golf carts scattered around the premises. The owners clearly don’t care about doing any updates or making the place safe for guests. Even the stairs down to the ocean had a caution tape over them, and are in disrepair. It’s a shame, as the location is beautiful and it has plenty of potential. There isn’t even an oven in the kitchens and the stove top is from the 60’s. The electrical also looked like it was from the 60’s and I wonder if that’s how the fire started in the other building. The ground floor window also had no lock on it. It really wasn’t what I expected when I booked it, and definitely wasn’t toddler friendly for us.

This was such an unexpected, marvelous experience. We stayed in the family cabin with our children and it was so much fun. Spacious, clean, with a large kitchen and sitting room, facing the ocean. The front landscape is stunning, with plenty of running space to catch a frisbee and throw an airplane. A quick step to the shore to look for all sorts of treasures and an interesting back country area, full of memories. Wonderful places for photography too. The dark night was ideal to look for constellations and the silence was absolutely divine. We are grateful to the kind lady who brought rescued kitties to show our kids. Felt like home away from home and we can't wait to go back.
